About Premier Takeaway
Premier Takeaway is a Chinese takeaway on Grange Rd in Morpeth, at number 41. The kitchen's Garlic and Chilli house special sits on the menu next to Hong Kong style crispy fried prawns, which gives customers a spicy dish and a seafood dish to choose between. Sweet and sour chicken, made with battered chicken balls, covers the more familiar side of the Chinese takeaway range. Orders are walk-in, so customers come to the counter and place them in person.

Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers describe a decline at a once-favoured takeaway, with fried rice the most repeated complaint: cold, gloopy and clumped together, alongside rubbery chicken. Sweet and sour dishes come close behind, with oily chicken balls, a sauce that was all vinegar, and Hong Kong style prawns that arrived cold, watery and flavourless. Others mention greasy chow mein, prawn toast with a soggy bottom, missing and wrong items, and a menu that listed lower prices than those charged. One suspects inferior ingredients or a change of ownership. A minority are positive: one calls it the best Chinese takeaway in the area, and another praises red hot salt and pepper ribs and garlic and chilli house special, while the chop suey roll is also liked. Several say most of their meal went in the bin.

“Prices were more than the Menu stated. Apparently the Menu on offer was out of date and the new Menus hadn't arrived. Food was over cooked and very dry. Sadly my experience was awful.”

“Horrendous. Items missing. Wrong items. Sauces where thick and gelatinous, definitely not stir fried. Fried rice was all clumped together. 2/3 of the meal went in the bin. Never again bah.”

“Ordered on Christmas eve, very disapointed Sweet and sour chicken, chicken battered balls oily and very slim on chicken, sauce very sour all vinegar , unpleasant to the point of not using it. On the upside chop suey roll very nice”

“This used to be a great place but this is now the 3rd awful meal and we wont be returning. Rice was cold, gloopy and stuck together, chicken rubbery (same for the last 3 meals) prawn toast had a soggy bottom and tasted strongly of raw onions. Chow mein was too greasy to eat, absolutely awful again. Such a let down :(”

“Terrible. Firstly, waited nearly two hours for food to arrive, put a call in to them to be told the food had just left …. We then waited 30 mins for it to arrive from leaving the store when we live 10mins away. £50 order and the quality of the food was very poor and the majority of it went in the bin. Won’t be ordering from here again.”
