About The Village Chinese Takeaway
The Village Chinese Takeaway is a Chinese takeaway in Cramlington, based at Unit 5 and open evenings only. Customer Review Summary
Chicken curry is the dish reviewers raise most, called delicious by one diner and ordered with egg fried rice by another, with salt and pepper chips close behind as banging for one. Others praise king prawn sweet and sour, spare ribs and crispy chicken in Peking sauce, and a couple note food arriving quick and red hot. Reviewers also mention good value and a polite phone manner. The picture is split, though. Another diner found the curry sauce tasted of powder and the salt and pepper chips too salty to eat, and a different reviewer calls the noodles and meat pre-cooked and pre-frozen. One reviewer, returning after a reported change of owners, describes a bland beef curry with tough beef and orange duck that was fatty in a lemony sauce with no vegetables, and it went in the bin.

“Food was not great. Curry sauce tasted of powder, salt n pepper chips were so salty they were in unedible, other food was bland. Will not be going back.”

“Absolutely amazing food, quick and also love this being near home. Have ordered from here twice so far and each time it's been consistently good. Prices are really good and the quality of the food is second to none. My Fiancée and I have moved up from the south and this was a lovely surprise, much better than Mandarin Bay. I just wanted to add as of 7th of November 2025 this is still a great Chinese Takeaway, food has been consistently great everytime my now Wife and I order from here. Still excellent quality, great value and just overall the best Chinese we've ever had. Mandarin is a good option if you're eating out and want to sit in a restaurant, but I stand by The Village being the best one. Haven't tried Brockwell yet, but this is so consistently great it's difficult to risk buying from another place.”
