About The Fox at Oddington

The Fox at Oddington is a pub on High St in Moreton In Marsh, linked to Daylesford, with Daylesford produce and hand wash in the toilets carrying that connection through the building. Sunday roasts are on the menu, including roast sirloin of beef, and pizzas and soft serve are available too. The bar pours guest ales and IPAs on tap, and the cocktail list includes seasonal Bellinis. The dining space has fireplaces, with chess boards set by the fireplace for anyone who wants a game. Dogs are welcome. An overspill car park for the restaurant sits a few minutes' walk away.

Customer Review Summary

Roasts anchor the praise, with diners singling out a Sunday roast and a roast sirloin of beef with equally good vegetables, and one table left too full for dessert. Close behind are the burger, the pizzas (a kids pizza was nearly the adult size), pork belly, beef bourguignon and the Njuda scotch egg, with apple and blackberry crumble, dark chocolate mousse and cheesecake among the puddings. Several credit the Daylesford link for fresh, well-sourced produce, and cocktails, seasonal Bellinis and guest ales and IPAs also earn mentions. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, attentive and polite, and one overnight guest describes a quiet room and excellent coffee. The caveats are pace and noise: one reviewer found the bar area loud and hectic and felt rushed when drinks, starters and mains landed close together, while another calls it very crowded. A couple of reviewers say prices sit above a standard pub but reflect the quality, and two advise booking, one asking for a restaurant table. Others settle by the fireplaces, where chess boards are on hand.

“Nice place to go for a summer evening meal outside. Pre booking is essential though. They have an over spill carpark for the restaurant - few minutes walk away. Service was attentive and polite. The food was good. Cocktails and a good selection of guest largess and IPAs on tap. Yes, it’s linked to Daylesford but that does mean good produce and nice hand wash in the toilets!”

“A delicious meal with our dog for the first night of our Cotswolds holiday! The pizza was fantastic and the cheesecake was delicious! I was worried that it might be pretentious given the clientele and area, but it was homely, welcoming and comforting! Yes, the prices are more than a standard pub but they reflect the quality and area. Definitely recommend.”

“A dream stay at The Fox at Oddintgton 🦊! I stayed in 'The Master' room, which was beautifully designed with a perfect cottage vibe. It’s so quiet and serene there; no noise, no city lights, just pure peace. It’s the best sleep I’ve had in a long time. 😴 The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The coffee was excellent, and the croissant with strawberry preserve literally tasted like heaven. 🍓🥐 The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the stay even better. Highly recommend for anyone looking to recharge. I’m already counting the days until my next visit! ✨️”

“The Fox is a seriously high-quality gastropub in a beautiful Cotswolds village. You can really taste the Daylesford influence - everything felt fresh, well-sourced, and thoughtfully done. We started with the focaccia and then had the Sunday roasts, which were excellent. Yes, they’re priced at a premium, but I actually thought they were good value given the quality and portion sizes - we were completely full and couldn’t manage dessert. Drinks menu is also strong and pairs well with the food. Only minor downside was the pacing - our drinks, starters and mains all landed within about 10 minutes, which made it feel a bit rushed and took away slightly from the experience. Also worth noting we were seated in the bar area, which was quite loud and hectic. If you’re after a more relaxed meal where you can properly chat, I’d definitely recommend asking for a table in the restaurant when booking. Overall though, a great spot - I’d happily go back and am keen to try the non-Sunday roast menu next.”
