About The Hippodrome
The Hippodrome is a pub at 36 Queen St in Market Drayton, set in a former cinema with an Art Deco interior, so meals and pints are served inside a converted picture house. The pub opens daily and serves breakfast in the mornings, with tea and Lavazza coffee that come with refills. Lunch and dinner run to fish and chips, gourmet burgers and freshly made pizzas, along with vegetarian choices and deli deal options. On the bar, real ale and local guest beers sit alongside craft beers and gins. Customers order through an app, which also handles table service. The pub has no onsite parking, but several large car parks are a short walk away.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the value of this former cinema, describing its Art Deco interior as a masterpiece and the building as one of the nicest Spoons they have visited. Food draws the next most comment, with the fish and chips called perfect by one reviewer, the burgers described as good, and an 8oz sirloin steak cooked to perfection. Several mention cheap drinks, including real ale and guest beers, and one singles out a particular wine. Ordering on the app is described as easy and service as quick and friendly, with the toilets noted as clean. The main complaint comes from one reviewer who has visited three times and found the food cold each time. On the latest visit, fish and chips was unavailable mid-afternoon, a request for hot mushy peas was overlooked, and replacement hot chips arrived as a portion of mini chips. Another reviewer, by contrast, said the food came out hot, and one notes a couple of chairs could use new pads.

“Having visited Shropshire several times to see my grandfather and his partner, who regularly visit Wetherspoons, we have now visited this particular establishment on three occasions. Unfortunately, on each visit we have experienced issues with the food being served cold. On this occasion, we were particularly looking forward to having fish and chips. However, despite it being around 2:00 pm, we were disappointed to find that this option was unavailable. Given the time of day, I would have expected this to be available. Once again, the food we received was not served at an acceptable temperature. When ordering, we also requested hot mushy peas, but this request was overlooked. In addition, after having requesting hot chips we were given the replacement portion of mini chips which was disappointing. I appreciate that there may have been a shortage of staff, but this was the third time we have experienced similar issues. When dining out, we expect the most basic standard to be met: food should be hot, orders should be accurate, and the overall experience should be satisfactory. I am extremely disappointed to have had the same experience for a third time and hope this feedback can be taken seriously and used to improve the service and food quality in the future.”

“Popped in for a cheeky bite to eat whilst visiting the area from Brighton and have to say for a wetherspoons it actually was pretty enjoyable. Having arrived at a later time in the evening ordering was quick and easy and price was reasonable. Staff seemed friendly and helpful so overall a good experience from me.”

“We go here a couple of times a month for a quick, cheap lunch while visiting family. We usually arrive around 12-1pm and there is always plenty of seating. Ordering on the app is easy, service is quick and cheerful. If you want 'real' food you might be disappointed, but some of the food items are actually really good and it rivals McDonalds for prices - it depends what you order but including drinks we usually pay around £8-10 per adult, less for sandwiches or a small plate. Tea/coffee prices even include free refills. The general area and the toilets are always been very clean and there are baby changing facilities. There is no onsite parking but several large car parks within a couple of hundred metres. Absolutely nothing to complain about.”

For lunch and dinner, there are lighter bites, with deli deal options and vegetarian choices, gourmet burgers and freshly made pizzas. Wetherspoon has championed a wide range of drinks, including real ales, craft beers, gins and soft drinks. Table service is available via the Wetherspoon app, using our unlimited free Wi-Fi.
