About Phetpailin
Phetpailin is a Thai restaurant at 46 George St in Manchester's Chinatown, serving Anglo-Thai cooking from a menu of 68 dishes. Vegetarian choices run through that menu, so meat-free diners can order across several sections. The restaurant does not serve alcohol. Guests bring their own drinks, and a corkage fee applies for each person who drinks. Lunch is offered as a two-course menu, and a separate set menu is available for those who would rather have the courses chosen together.

Customer Review Summary
Pad Thai is the dish reviewers raise most, with one calling it the best they have tasted and another naming it a favourite alongside Thai lemon tea. Close behind are the curries and soups: tamarind duck and duck curry, prawn green curry, Panaeng curry with beef and sticky rice, and a seafood soup in a big pot that one says is enough for two. The mixed starter, fish cakes and iced Thai milk tea with whipped cream also get mentions, as do Po teak and Chu chee fried fish. Portions are called big or generous, staff friendly, and several say the food is among the closest to authentic Thai they have found in Manchester. Reviewers repeatedly note that bringing their own drinks costs only a small corkage fee. The restaurant is small with limited seating, and several suggest booking ahead. One reviewer wanted a stronger hot and sour tom yum, and another says some dishes run spicy or sweet. Seats near the entrance can feel cold in winter, though staff regularly closed the door.

“Would recommend Panaeng Curry with beef pair with sticky rice. Tried their fish cake this time but Tom yum soup will be my next go to! They do a lunch menu for 9.95-12.95 two course lunch.”

“If you want you can bring your own beer etc. 1p cork fee. Saft very nice and helpful.”

“We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, which features the best Pad Thai we have ever tasted! The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The options are plentiful and the food was incredibly tasty and full of flavour. The portions are superb too relative to other Thai restaurants in Manchester which makes it excellent value for money. The atmosphere is cosy as the restaurant isn’t overly large, and the staff to guest ratio is spot on. They don’t serve alcohol but you can bring your own and pay a small corkage fee. One minor point is if you’re sitting near the entrance door (and it’s winter/cold outside) then it can feel cold with customers entering and leaving the door open. The staff were however aware of this and would regularly close the door if another guest hadn’t already done so. Would highly recommend and we will be back!”

“Great food, service and prices!! Really hidden place in china town but very comfortable place to have lunch/dinner. My favourite were Pad Thai and Thai lemon tea. It’s a relatively small restaurant so book a table in advance!”
