About Nafees Sweet Centre (Longsight)

Nafees Sweet Centre (Longsight) is a Pakistani restaurant and traditional mithai shop at 616 Stockport Rd in Manchester, so it works both as a place to sit down and eat and a place to buy sweets. Desi breakfast is a focus of the kitchen, and halwa puri appears on the menu as a recurring item. Curries make up the savoury side of the Pakistani menu. Mithai, the desi sweets, is sold here alongside the restaurant, so a meal and a purchase of sweets can happen in the same visit.

Customer Review Summary

Traditional mithai draws the most praise, with one reviewer describing fresh, authentic desi sweets with rich taste and perfect sweetness. Close behind are the savoury and breakfast items: the halva and puri from the desi nashta, chicken pakora, an excellent chai, and a bulk order of samosas for a corporate Eid event that employees rated highly, prebooked and paid for without trouble. That reviewer only wished delivery were offered. Others mention generous portions, a wide variety of dishes and friendly service, though waits grow longer at busy times and one notes there is no proper dine in. Complaints centre on freshness and value. A regular who usually likes the sweets found everything tasted old on a recent visit, and another reviewer found the channa salan overpowered by masala. One called the omelette average and the place a bit pricey. The sharpest value complaint came from a diner whose dahi bhalla plate arrived as mostly chana with a single piece of potato.

“Nafees is a good place to enjoy authentic South Asian food, with a wide variety of dishes and generous portion sizes. The food is fresh, flavourful, and reasonably priced, making it a popular choice for families and groups. Service is generally friendly, although waiting times can be a little longer during busy hours. Overall, it's a great spot for a satisfying meal with good value for money.”

“Came in to try their desi nashta a few weeks ago. I got their desi nashta whilst hubby got seekh kebab chapli kebab and chicken pakora. The halva and puri were amazing. Honestly cannot fault them, however the channa salan was really really strong as if they had emptied a whole tub of masala into the pot. Hubby enjoyed the chicken pakora. Chapli kebab was raw from the inside. Seekh kebab gave him a sore stomach. Staff was okay not rude. But the food could do with a bit of fixing up tbh. Both of us had the runs that whole day which resulted in ruining our trip from scotland”
