Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the food as delicious, with the staff and family feel close behind. Named dishes include the risotto, the sea bass in lemon butter sauce, mussels as a starter, carbonara, salmon pasta, and panna cotta and crème brûlée for dessert. Several describe celebrations, from a surprise birthday for a large party to a graduation dinner, and say the staff handled the group without trouble. One parent says a fussy seven year old eats everything and that the staff always make a fuss of her. The main complaint comes from one birthday diner who found the food lovely but felt service fell short on the bill. Plain penne for a child was rung through as Penne Napoli at a full main course price, a lager shandy was charged as a full pint, and staff apologised but said the till could not be changed. Elsewhere, reviewers describe the servers as friendly and welcoming, and some say they never leave disappointed.

“We visited this restaurant to celebrate a birthday and spent almost £350, so we were expecting a really enjoyable experience. The food itself was lovely, and we have no complaints about the quality. However, unfortunately, the customer service left a lot to be desired. My daughter prefers plain food and asked for a bowl of plain pasta, with absolutely nothing added to it. When the bill arrived, we were shocked to see that we had been charged £12.95. The receipt described it as ‘Penne Napoli’, despite it being plain penne pasta cooked in water, with no butter and no sauce whatsoever. When discussing the pasta option, we even asked whether it could have been put through as a child’s portion, as almost £13 for plain pasta seemed rather excessive. Unfortunately, we were told that it was simply what the till charged and that there was 'nothing they could do about it' and didn't seem to understand. Although the staff apologised, the response felt dismissive and unhelpful. I genuinely struggle to understand how something as simple as a bowl of plain pasta could not be charged at a more reasonable price, particularly when we had specifically asked for a basic option for a child. Surely there should be some flexibility in situations like this, rather than simply relying on what the till says? I also ordered a lager shandy and was charged the same price as a full pint of lager, which was another disappointment. Spending over £350 on a birthday meal is a significant amount of money, and although the food was lovely, the attitude of the staff and the lack of willingness to resolve our concerns really let the evening down. It’s a shame, as good food is important, but so is good customer service. We left feeling disappointed that what should have been a lovely birthday celebration was overshadowed by how our concerns were handled.”

“Another amazing night with Val, Roland, Rena, and the team at Lugana. Utterly delicious food, great service and a proper family atmosphere. Special thanks to our super servers Isla (the next Chancellor of the Exchequer) and Reece (Antonio Margarita) the next 007. Two young people who would give anyone confidence in the knowledge that our future is in good hands.”
