Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the food itself, with the homemade tiramisu named repeatedly and the lasagne, ribs, lamb shank, steak, pasta and risotto each picked out as well. Diners describe the food as piping hot and full of flavour, with large portions. Several mention friendly, welcoming staff who were helpful with a coeliac guest, a baby and an elderly friend, and one notes a birthday candle placed on a dessert. The open kitchen, where the chefs can be watched cooking, and a perfectly made Irish coffee also earn mentions, along with vegan options. A Friday night visit involved some waiting while the restaurant was full, though staff were apologetic throughout. The one sharply negative review describes a long-time visitor refused a swap from prawn linguine to a full seafood linguine without any check with the kitchen, a beef cannelloni seen coming out covered in cling film and going into the oven, and a prawn linguine that did not seem Italian. Several returning locals say the food is as good as ever after the change of hands and the makeover.

“I used to go to this restaurant as a young girl (born 1993) I always remember it being a beautiful authentic little place. Been to reminisce this evening and what a shambles it was. Service from two young girls crap, food rubbish. Asked for prawn linguine but asked could I make it be a full seafood linguine she instant told me no!! No discussion with the kitchen. Partner ordered beef cannelloni and I saw the chefs pull out this meal covered in cling film and thrown in the oven. Long gone has the authentic Italian restaurant it once used to be. I get places change times have changed but the prawn linguine I had was NOT Italian, I don’t even know where it was from. £80 wasted. So disappointed 😞”

“I visited with my aunty for the first time last night and I have to say the food tasted amazing. My aunt is seliac and they couldn't be any more accomodating. The service matched the food and we weren't rushed from our table at any point. An extra bonus was the perfectly made irish coffee to finish! Thanks for making us feel like valued customers, we'll definitely be back again :)”

“17/04/2026 - Very warm welcome from staff. This restaurante offers an authentic italian menu and a warm calm enviroment. The staff catered for all our needs and were very helpful. The food was served piping hot and full of flavour. All staff were very engaging especially woth our 10 month old baby. The food is fairly peiced and portions are large. Overall a very good experience and we will be back soon.”

“This was our first time here. The staff, the food were the best!! Staff were so friendly and funny. It was a birthday and they put a candle on my husband's desert. The ribs, the lamb shank and the tiramisu were all fantastic!!”

“With roots in the beautiful Italian island of Sicily, and many in the Warrington area, Don Luigi first opened its doors in 1988 to offer classic Italian dishes to the people of Culcheth. The first ever Italian restaurant in Culcheth, Don Luigi has become a staple in the village community with regular customers returning time and time again. Although a lot has changed over the last few years, we remain a family-run business dedicated to delivering fuss-free Italian food that everyone can enjoy. Our chefs love to create the dishes we know our loyal customers know and love, to give them the very best authentic Italian experience.”
