Customer Review Summary
Cakes draw the warmest comments, with reviewers naming the cheesecake and a tempting cake selection, alongside a deluxe hot chocolate and latte described as lovely. Friendly, helpful staff and the window views come up in the positive reviews. One reviewer notes tables being cleared as soon as people left, and another suggests downloading the John Lewis app for free hot drinks and cakes. The complaints weigh more heavily on savoury food and service. One diner got a vegetarian pie with no gravy and found tables piled with dirty trays. Another said the sandwiches had no filling, and a third reports a tiny soup portion for the second time. Reviewers also describe lukewarm tea, a very slow till, dated decor and staff chatting. One latte customer says the barista laughed when asked for coffee and milk served separately, and a colleague was seen smirking afterward. Another reviewer had to stir tea with a soup spoon because no teaspoons were out.

“I really do love eating in the cafe, the views especially are interesting out the windows (unlike the new M&S cafe which has none). The staff, especially the guy with the tattoos (what a legend!), are always friendly and helpful. It's not always obvious that they do hot food, as people seem to miss reading the menu at the start (where you pick up the trays). The selection of cakes is always tempting. Top tip, download the John Lewis app and get free stuff, today I had two free hot drinks and two cakes, that's like £15 worth of stuff, for Free! Amazing!”

“Nice little cafe on 1st floor of John Lewis, drinks were lovely, we had a deluxe hot chocolate and latte, staff were friendly and helpful, was very busy, the cakes looked nice will most likely try the cakes or other food next time. Quite a bit of seating and there was a lady clearing the tables as soon as people left.”

“Came here and ordered the steak and ale pie, when we arrived they had one left for the two of us. I happily changed to the vegetarian pie. Got served the food and was handed over. We asked them after they handed us the food if they had gravy, the response “there’s no gravy today.” We spent £25 on below average food that was incomplete. The tables were all covered in dirty trays and no where to sit. I won’t be coming back.”

“I have been visiting John Lewis Café at the Trafford Centre for a long time. I used to come for shopping and coffee, but I stopped visiting for a while. Now, I am back, and everything is just as good as before: the same taste, the same great service, and the same cozy atmosphere. I love this café because the food is delicious, especially the desserts. Today, I tried the cheesecake, and it was absolutely amazing! If you visit the Trafford Centre, I strongly recommend trying John Lewis Café.”

“I had to suffer the slowest till user this side of nowhere who took forever to get through a number of queuing people. If she went any slower her pulse would be obsolete. Prices are extortionate.”
