Customer Review Summary
The setting draws the most praise, with reviewers describing a great atmosphere, a gorgeous interior, excellent service on the patio, and weddings and anniversaries adding to the vibe. Food comes close behind. The beef roast and Sunday lunch earn repeated praise, though one reviewer notes portions are smaller than they used to be. Others single out the hot honey chicken pizza, cheese pies with truffle fries, smashed burgers and fish and chips. One reviewer suggests booking ahead for a good indoor table. The complaints are fewer but detailed. One diner found the drumsticks on the chicken board pink inside, and another found the Nourish Bowl missing its pomegranate, with watered-down hummus, while the Hanging Chicken tasted like it came from a freezer. A birthday party describes slow bar service, an arrogant bouncer, and pint glasses that were mouldy and unclean. The diner with the pink chicken says a manager insisted it was cooked properly, though a round of drinks was offered.

“Small group went for lunch. Had the Nourish Bowl with sticky chicken @ £17. Absolutely terrible. Limp and uninspiring, there was no pomegranate as promised, the chicken was not sticky as described and the hummus looked and tasted like it had been watered down. Others in the party had the Hanging Chicken. An unfortunate choice of name for something that looked equally unfortunate and tasted like it had come straight from a freezer. Everything looked absolutely thrown together, as if the person preparing it didn’t want to be there. I can’t believe a chef in an establishment as busy as this is sending food of this quality out. Avoid.”

“The drinks were good, and the bar staff were friendly. However, we ordered the chicken board, and all of the chicken drumsticks were pink inside. When I reported this to a member of staff, before I had even finished explaining, she said, “Oh, is it raw?” This immediately gave me the impression that this may have happened before. She took the food away, and then I believe the manager came over. Unfortunately, he came across as quite arrogant. He said he had checked with the head chef and the other chefs, and they all agreed that the chicken was cooked properly and was safe to eat. I tried not to make the situation confrontational and simply explained that, regardless of what they believed, the chicken was not cooked enough for me and it had completely put me off eating it. Despite this, he continued to insist that the chicken was fine. He did offer us a round of drinks, which we accepted and appreciated. However, I feel the situation should have been handled much better. The manager was dismissive and made me feel as though he wasn’t willing to listen to my concerns. Because I remained polite throughout, I felt like I wasn’t taken seriously and was instead made to feel belittled.”

“what an amazing evening we had with my family! The food was outstanding. We had four cheese pies 🥧 — two with chunky chips and two with truffle fries. The gravy with mushy peas was delicious 🤤, and the hot honey chicken pizza 🍕 was fluffy, light, and absolutely delicious. A big thank you to the chef for preparing such fantastic food! The place itself looks great, very clean, and has a lovely bar area that creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service was excellent, and a special thank you to the manager for looking after us so well. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made our visit even more enjoyable. I can’t praise them enough for the fantastic experience they provided. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back again soon. Highly recommended! 😊⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”
