Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the canal side setting, with outside tables in the beer garden and live music on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Pints of lager and a good choice of beers and ciders get praise, and the food draws regular compliments, including generous portions, a well-cooked Short Rib Fettuccine, tender chicken wings with the bbq sauce favoured over salt and pepper, and starters and pizza described as tasty for a pub. Overnight guests mention a powerful shower, a fan in place of air con and a discount on meals, while a wedding and a child's birthday party for 21 dishes arriving together were both described as running smoothly. Staff are called friendly and helpful, including a response to a guest who fainted in a party of 20. The recurring caveats are cost and timing: mains were called expensive, and outdoor diners had starters arrive with mains. One reviewer found the chicken skewer small and dry, and another felt the steak was bland and wanted more follow-up from management after raising a problem with a dish. One reviewer advises booking because the place is popular.

“This is the second year that we have stayed in Manchester at this location whilst visiting family. We found this place last year, & although the rooms have no air con' there is a fan provided, which is welcome & sufficient to take the edge off a warm night. The location is idealistic , sat by the lazy canal as it drifts by , whilst you enjoy a drink or a pretty darn good meal from the menu & a 10% discount for overnight guests. We will be back ... see you next year !”

“Could not have picked a better place to catchup with family females. Accommodated a party of 20, the food was excellent, service from all staff was first class and all very pleasant and helpful. One of our party unfortunately fainted and the staff were very attentive and on the ball with help and making sure she was comfortable and rang for ambulance. Couldnt praise them anymore they were absolutely amazing .”

“Really lovely here. Food delicious. Staff are really good. The restaurant is in a lovely position next to the canal. Lots of tables to sit outside on a nice day.”

“Lovely setting with live music. Perfect for a sunny, Sunday afternoon. Food was lovely but because we ate outside, we had to have our starters served at the same time as our main meal, not ideal. Had a lovely time. Worth a visit but advised to book as it's a popular spot.”

“Sat on the exterior area and it was really nice by the river. Good selection of food and beers/ciders. The mains were on the expensive side and I am not quite sure why. Had some starters and pizza on relatively reasonable prices and they were quite tasty for a pub. I would recommend it overall except the food prices.”
