About Pond House
Pond House is a pub on Bath Rd in Maidenhead that hosts a quiz night every Thursday, run by a quizmaster. It is part of the Greene King pub estate and opens daily. The kitchen cooks pub food, including a roast lunch with turkey or roast beef, along with mac and cheese and chicken katsu. Screens show football and other sports, and a pool table and gaming machines give visitors something to do between rounds or matches. A car park serves drivers.

Customer Review Summary
Quiz night draws the most praise. Regulars and first-timers call it fun and engaging, one says the Thursday quiz is the best in town, and the quizmaster is singled out as welcoming. Close behind are the macaroni cheese and chicken katsu, which two diners enjoyed, along with an English breakfast of great bacon, a tasty sausage and a lovely cup of tea. Bar staff are described as friendly, helpful and chatty, several call the food and drink good value, and a parent with a toddler says they felt at ease. The complaints centre on service under pressure. During big televised sports, one customer says the bar could not keep up and half the menu had run out. A regular reports a roast lunch booking moved to a later time, a long wait for food, and a turkey roast that arrived cold. Another describes watery beans, a stained mug, and soap and a puddle of water in the toilets. One takeaway diner's only complaint was that there was not more macaroni cheese.

“Excellent service from the staff, always happy and helpful. However the highlight is the quizmaster Vicky. We’re regular attendees and love how fun and engaging Vicky is, always welcoming and up for a laugh. Couldn’t rate the quiz more highly.”

“We visited for an English breakfast and, overall, had a good experience. The breakfast was very enjoyable, with great bacon, a tasty sausage, and a lovely cup of tea. The beans were a little watery, but the food was still good overall. There were a few things that could be improved. They had run out of white bread, and there was a very loud, rowdy customer whose behaviour was upsetting younger children in the pub. The toilets also needed more attention, with soap splashed across the mirror, a puddle of water on the floor, and the cubicle doors being quite small and awkward to use. My mug also had a stain on it, so the crockery and cutlery could do with a more thorough wash. Despite those issues, the staff were pleasant, the breakfast was enjoyable, and I would happily return.”

“This is a great family pub that caters for everyone very well. It's inclusive and friendly with a wonderful atmosphere. The staff are just ace, and the food is both varied and reasonably priced. It's quiz nights on Thursdays are definitely the best in town. The Pond House is well worth a visit for an evening out.”

“Update 17 May2026 at 13.03pm It is very sad when your regular pub treats you badly. I brought 3 friends for roast lunch for a 12 noon reservation. We discovered on arrival that the establishment changed the reservation to 12.30pm. Then despite queueing behind two ladies to place our order the manager (bald with blue eyes) served a man before us. Chivalry is clearly dead. We did confront him about it very politely but he passed it off with an insincere apology. Then we waited almost 45 minutes for our food with gentlemen who arrived after us being served their roast beef before us. Again another insincere apology. Our turkey roast albeit it delicious was cold when served to us. This is very sad as the standard of service today does not do the Greene King consortium any credit. My guests and I have decided that given the sexist service and lukewarm food, we will be going elsewhere in future. So sad as we usually eat at the Pond House at least 6 to 8 times a month. Very, very disappointed.”
