Quick info
About YAMAS
YAMAS is a Greek restaurant on The Quay in Looe, set on the East Looe quayside with a view across the water. The menu opens with feta filo pastry with honey, and lamb is a focus of the mains, with kleftico among the dishes. Baklava is on the dessert list. Some plates are served on a board. An upstairs bar pours drinks and cocktails, so the evening can start or finish away from the dining room. A private dining room is available for groups, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
The main complaint is value and execution. A few call it pricey for small portions, with one saying the lamb was small and another that the lamb was overcooked and dry. Calamari lacked flavour for two reviewers, and the gyros were called just ok. One reviewer says food arrived all together with no cutlery, and some dishes came on boards that were awkward to eat from. One table found the evening flat after celebrating.

“Great bar / restaurant in a lovely waterside location. The food was absolutely perfect. We had the feta starter which was out of this world, and then a chicken gyros and lamb dish. Both also excellent, thanks very much for a lovely afternoon / early evening.”

“We had the most amazing food here. We had the sourdough bread and cheese with honey which was delicious and then we had the Cornish sole and lamb shank. The food was beautiful and Vinny, Faye and Holly were perfect hosts. They were attentive, knowledgeable about the wine and menu and nothing was too much trouble. This is a real Gem in Looe and probably the best meal I have had in Looe. We will definitely be back!”

“Nice location, fresh food, small portions, expensive in relation to portion size, ok service but could have been better - cutlery. Tip - ask for cutlery first as food was served and didn't have any, all food comes out together/ irregular so if you order starters it's not ideal. Some dishes are served on board and it doesn't make it easy to eat. Food good - not mind blowing but fresh tasting The filo feta was particularly nice. My husband and son had gyros and said it was ok but didn't rave about it and asked for additional sauces to flavour. I had lamb and it was small and I don't have a large appetite. We had starters and a main from the bigger plates. I think for how much we spent we expected to be more satisfied. We got the last of the evening sun in a nice location but no joke we got a portion of chips whilst walking back to the car!!”

“It was fine. Nothing overly exciting, we were in and out within 40 minutes. £60 for bread and oil, calamari, cheese filo pastry with honey, potatoes and 2 chicken thighs. It felt overall disappointing, it lacked atmosphere and the food lacked flavour. We went to celebrate but were left leaving feeling a bit flat. Waitresses were very friendly and personable.”
