  “We saw The Coddy Shack when we arrived in Looe and decided then that we would try them. One of the best decisions we made on our Cornwall adventure. We phoned to book and had left it's a bit late but the team at The Coddy Shake were really accommodating and arranged for a 20.30 table. We arrived a bit early and had a drink at the bar. If you like cider I suggest a point of the crisp, refreshing Rattler off the tap. It wasn't long before our table was ready. It was late on the day so some menu items, like the steaks, were sold out. We were hungry so not a big and we had been forewarned when we booked. Our order consisted of two small plates of prawn salad with sides of new potatoes, sausage chips and curry sauce, spicy vegetable chili, catch of the day pan fried cod and The Coddy chowder. Not a single issue with the food; everything was piping hot and delicious. Portion size was good and some couldn't finish their meals. I had the chowder so am biased, but it was full of fish, mussels, sweet corn, some Cornish new potatoes and finished with a couple of pan seared scallops... I was a very happy man! The staff were brilliant, friendly and very helpful. Our thanks to Lily, Fleur and Kadi for making us feel welcome and taken care of. We will try to get back as there are other things on the menu we want to try... Like the breakfasts.. unfortunately it is our penultimate day tomorrow so might have to be on our next visit. And don't forget they do takeaway too!”

  “Casual shack style restaurant with incredibly good, fresh seafood and good wine. Well priced. Theres a seated menu indoors on one side and a fish and chips takaway counter on the other - you can sit outside with a takeaway. Most dishes available as starter or main. Starters are big enough for a light dinner or a full meal if you get a few to share. Try the chowder or the crevettes, the latter were enormous, see photo: middle top. Pil pil prawns nice, but not as outstanding as the crevettes. Mussels - delicious, meaty and creamy. Very good champagne option on the night we went too. All good value. Would be even better if there was outside seating for the restaurant section. Easy dining with a baby in tow. Will be back.”

  “Just been to Coddy shack, lovely staff and great tasting food. Definitely worth a visit if your nearby and want traditional fish and chips and a huge selection of drinks. Huge car park and a short walk from the nearby holiday camps.”

  “We had a fantastic visit to Coddy Shack in Cornwall and would definitely recommend it. We had booked a table beforehand, which was a good idea as it was clearly a popular place. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by lovely, friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. I had the surf and turf, while my friend had the fish and chips, and we were both really impressed with our meals. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully cooked, and full of flavour. You could tell that a lot of care had gone into preparing the dishes, and we both thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The atmosphere at Coddy Shack was one of the highlights of our visit. It had a relaxed, welcoming feel, and it was a lovely place to sit and enjoy a meal. The friendly service and cheerful surroundings made the whole experience even better. Overall, we had a brilliant evening. Great food, wonderful staff, and a fantastic atmosphere made our visit very memorable. We would happily return to Coddy Shack on our next trip to Cornwall and would recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a friendly and enjoyable setting.”

  “This was a great place. Reasonably priced.it was a bit busy and service was a bit slow as a result. I ordered small plates but they were still significant sizes. Everyone enjoyed there meals and we returned several times for takeaways”

  “Great fish restaurant on the outskirts of looe. On the expensive side (what isn't in Cornwall right now) but food quality and portions warranted the prices. Scampi great, cod very good. Service was great and waitress who served us was very good. When I ordered a side of mushy peas with the scampi she immediately offered to swap out the garden peas which saved a few quid. Loads of parking around the side, clearly a locals favourite.”

  “Absolutely brilliant dining experience! The waiter struck the perfect balance, attentive without being overbearing, and service was quick throughout. My husband and I both ordered the regular fish and chips, and it was fantastic with light, crisp batter and really tasty fish, with chips that were just as impressive. The puddings are definitely worth saving room for, I had the lemon meringue pie with clotted cream, and it was both huge and delicious. There’s also a great variety on the menu if fish and chips isn’t your thing, everything we saw coming out looked amazing. We’ll definitely be back, and I’d recommend arriving hungry if you’re heading to The Coddy Shack!”

  “We have visited the Coddy shack on 2 separate occasions and I forgot to write a review so here is one for both!! The first time we visited was amazing… believe it or not but it was my first time eating fish and chips. We were staying in Looe and the owner of the campsite had recommended it as it was just down the road so we thought why not! We went In and the menu by first glance looked amazing. We got the deep fried Brie for starters and for mains we got haddock, chips, with curry sauce and bread and butter. We were absolutely blown away! We have never had a fish and chips that good, every element of the food was incredible quality, the fish was fresh and the batter, was so light and crispy but still full of flavour! The curry sauce itself is one to go back for! Now comes the good bit.. the desserts. We ordered the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream and to put it bluntly.. it is probably one of the best sticky toffee puddings we have ever eaten. Rich, decadent and sweet, but not overpowering, the sauce is to die for!! The service we received was also top notch and after leaving we were so satisfied! The second time we visited the coddy shack, we went last minute as we were actually up in Padstow, but had no luck in finding a good fish and chips… we couldn’t stop reminiscing about our last experience at the coddy shack and made the 1hour drive down just to get it! We ordered exactly the same as last time but this time.. 2 sticky toffee puds and were not disappointed.. absolutely incredible food and service, worth every penny!!”

  “We went to The Coddy Shack twice during our two breaks in Looe this year and were very impressed on both occasions. We enjoyed a wonderful evening meal in the restaurant during the busy summer holiday season. The food was both delicious and nicely presented. Our waitress was polite and efficient, and our food arrived quickly despite the restaurant being very busy. Our takeaway meal during the October half-term was also excellent, some of the best takeaway fish and chips we've had in a long time. The portions were generous and freshly cooked to order. Our order was prepared very quickly. Thank you, The Coddy Shack. We'll definitely return again whenever we visit Looe.”

  “I have known about The Coddy Shack for many years and even longer, known the Bond brothers from their business in Polperro but never managed to visit during my trips from Canada. 🇨🇦 I was surprised how big the enterprise is and there is a venue at the back which if I recall is a steak and seafood restaurant that looks like it could also be an ideal wedding venue overlooking the valley. I enjoyed Haddock and Chips with Mushy Peas. The fish was perfectly cooked and the batter was light and crispy. Great to see a bar there, so I had a pint as well. The place was busy which is always an indication that it has a good local following. The table service was very good and the food came quickly. There is a separate takeaway area and that was busy as well. A great experience that I must do again on my next visit. Highly recommended.”
