About Nipa Thai
Nipa Thai is a Thai restaurant on the first floor of the Royal Lancaster hotel in London, reached through the marble foyer and up the stairs. An all-female kitchen led by Head Chef Sanguan Parr cooks a menu of 71 dishes, and the restaurant holds the Thai Select Award from the Thai Government. Tom Kha soup and prawn Pad Thai sit alongside a Vegetarian Set, and the menu includes a large vegetarian section. Plates arrive on banana leaves with vegetable carvings as garnish. The small dining room has traditional Thai furniture and wooden fixtures, and window tables look out over Hyde Park.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the presentation, with plates decorated with carved vegetable roses and flowers and served on banana leaves, alongside flavours described as fresh, balanced and authentic. Specific dishes named include the Tom Kha soup, prawn pad Thai, crab starter, Panang curry, fish cakes, soft shell crab, pork spare ribs and crab curry with rice vermicelli, while the mango sorbet and creative desserts also get praise. Close behind is the service, called friendly and attentive, with one server handling a shellfish allergy carefully. The room inside the hotel is described as small, with a window table overlooking Hyde Park. One reviewer felt Tom Kha elsewhere did not compare, and another calls it a little spenny. The one criticism comes from a diner who booked through First Table, where one waitress gave incorrect information about a menu item and rushed the order. Several mention special occasions, including a personalised cake ordered in advance and a complimentary anniversary dessert.

“Great experience. The food was amazing and authentic, i recommend trying the crab starter and the Panang curry. Service was quick and efficient, and the restaurant was stunning in itself. They even gave us a complementary dessert for my anniversary. A great place for dates and special occasions.”

“We were celebrating my mum’s birthday here and they made it so special. Noy was absolutely amazing about my dad’s shellfish allergy and we’re very grateful for how careful she was. We were very grateful for her service. There was a huge section of the menu for non-meat, so if you’re vegetarian, I think this would be great as well! It’s a small restaurant, but it definitely feels like Thai royalty. We felt transported to Thailand with the hospitality and kindness. We ordered a small cake in advance for £40 and they accommodated our request very kindly and made us a personalised cake. This is great for a special occasion we booked through First Table which they were gracious about and gave us no issues or treated us differently. This is a lovely restaurant for a special occasion. And the hotel is absolutely beautiful as well.”

“A classic Thaï address in the Royal Lancaster. Beautiful traditional furniture and wooden fixtures. The menu is kept traditional with authentic ingredients and true-to- origin flavours. Wide choice and balanced fresh flavours with an emphasis on freshness. Vibrant, elegant and delicate execution. The service makes all the hospitality of the venue fall into place. Special thanks to Noy for her expert service and pleasant”

“I had such a wonderful dining experience at this spot on Lancaster Terrace. Every plate that arrived at our table was a work of art, featuring such delicate touches like the intricate vegetable carving shaped like a rose. The flavors were perfectly balanced and clearly prepared with great care. I was particularly impressed by how vibrant the presentation was, especially with the use of fresh banana leaves on the serving dishes. It is rare to find a place that puts so much effort into the visual details while keeping everything tasting fresh and authentic. I will definitely be back.”

“I had a wonderful dining experience here. Every dish was prepared with such care and attention to detail. I was especially impressed by the beautiful vegetable garnishes, like the expertly carved flower made from fruit that accompanied my meal. The presentation is truly special. The flavors were fresh and perfectly balanced, making for a memorable lunch. I cannot wait to return for another visit.”
