About Khun Pakin Thai
Khun Pakin Thai is a Thai restaurant in London, set inside The Salutation, a King Street pub in Hammersmith that is more than 100 years old. Diners eat in an old English pub with classic interiors, and the pub bar still operates separately from the kitchen, so drinks are bought there while the food comes from the Thai kitchen. The menu includes pork kapow served with rice, tom yam soup and papaya salad, alongside other Thai salads. The kitchen imports traditional ingredients for its dishes, aiming to keep them true to their Thai origins while fitting a London setting. The restaurant at 154 King St is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Raw marinated prawns are the dish reviewers raise most, with several calling them a favourite and one warning they are very, very spicy. Close behind are the Thai salads, especially papaya salad, described as fresh, spicy and flavourful. Reviewers also name pork kapow, basil pork with rice, tom yam soup, grilled pork neck, stir fried flat noodles and stir fried morning glory. Many call the food authentic, and portions are described as generous. Several mention friendly staff, and the setting is a pub with a bar for drinks and a garden. Not everyone agrees. One first-time visitor found the pad Thai greasy, with raw bean sprouts on top that tasted unpleasant, and the indoor room very hot in summer. Another thought the starter platter was not great and the menu small. A weekday lunch diner found a reduced menu on offer and enjoyed both the pork kapow and the tom yam.

“Incredible Thai food! This place is recommended by a Thai friend! Worth the journey from central London. Strongly recommend the raw prawn, stir fried flat noodle, grilled pork neck and stir fried morning glory! Every dish is impeccable, good price! Would definitely come again!”

“I have been to Thailand so I am quite sure Thai food can taste better. Not feeling comfortable after the meal, perhaps too greasy. Bean sprouts on top of pad Thai tastes crispy but it is raw and unpleasant. That was my first time visiting and it would be the last as well. I don’t like the flavour and it’s very hot sitting indoor eating in this hot summer.”

“Second time here and still love it! The raw prawns are amazing, the portions are generous, and everything we’ve tried has been really tasty. Definitely one of our favourite Thai spots.”

“The food tastes just like it does back in Thailand—absolutely delicious. It's a shame I can't eat *pla ra* (fermented fish sauce), but I’ll definitely be coming back.”
