  “Those people , the stuff there is so rude on the phone when I tried to contact them to ask them for open mics. The same person that I have called picked up the phone and rudely cancelled it the moment I asked for open mics. He suggested on instagram but they even do not respond there at all. Those people are disgusting and with super rude behaviour. Please don’t use their services at all!!! They so rude to their clients. I am not the only one that they have been rude and their food is not good too. So please protect yourself and do not contact these people or go to Troy Bar London at all!! Such a disappointment!”

  “The worst experience ever. I traveled an hour to get there to sing, drink, and eat, but at the entrance, they only accepted cash, which I didn’t have—I only had my phone to pay. While they were trying to help me with that, they noticed I was holding a cup of tea.I always bring my own tea when I’m going to sing because pubs usually don’t sell it, and I need to keep my vocal cords hydrated due to a past surgery. They insisted on their rules and refused to make an exception. I tried to explain why I couldn't throw it away, but they just wouldn't listen.My friend had already paid the entry fee, but they refused to give a refund so we could go somewhere else, claiming it was against their policy. Clearly, 'rules are rules' and customer service comes last for them.Choose 'Old Street Records' pub instead. It’s only 2 minutes away from Troy. They have live shows, the staff is very kind and friendly, and they accept card payments and no extra fees at the entrance. I had a great time and the musicians were fantastic!”

  “Went for birthday get together. Great atmosphere open mic , night soul on Tuesdays. The band were amazing! Amazing time laughed and sang. Great vibes will be back there again soon!”

  “I went to try out the Open Mic held here. Being a musician from America, I was excited for this to be my first international Open Mic. I got to the bar an hour early, so only the owners were there. One was an Asian lady, another a Black man. The Asian lady was cordial, but for some reason, the Black guy was very upset and rude towards me because I came so early. When I called him out on his rudeness, the man came up to me and started yelling in my face. When I tried take out my phone to record him because he was making me uncomfortable, he then put his hands on me and tried to literally throw me out. I had to forcefully shove him off of me because he was really starting to get even more aggressive. I don't know what the owner's problem is, but that was absolutely unacceptable behavior. I will never support this business or come back ever again and I won't recommend this spot to anyone else either.”

  “Sadly not very tasty. The price is okay - £9.50 for a curry goat meal with rice n peas, plantain, coleslaw.. but the food is not good. The goat is incredibly tough. Gravy very thin. Flavour lacking. Big shame :/”

  “I only come here at lunch time, to get a takeaway. Never been here in the evening, so I dont know any performances/event. Takeaway food wise, I enjoyed it. I ordered jerk chicken with rice. It came with plaintain and coleslaw. They were nice and good portion. Unfortunately, they didnt offer seats at lunch time, only takeaway. Even tho there were tables available. I will visit again and get the takeaway”

  “Came to support a friend DJing here but lacking atmosphere. Floor is okay to dance on although a bit uneven in places. I reckon it could be a really good venue with right people willing to get up and dance as the music was very good! DJ Fast Freddie has had many a floor grooving to the same tracks! Maybe it could be to do it wasn’t yet midnight as around midnight a few did get up and dance! Other DJ was Sammy Skates who also played a great set! It seems that live music also is played here as behind the DJ were drums of all sorts. If there were more people grooving, I’d give it 4.5 stars.”

  “This was aaaall vibes. Such incredible talent on display and the energy of the people who went was incredible. We went for the Tuesday neo-soul open mic and it was maybe the best open mic I’ve ever been to, and you can tell that so much of it has to do with the organzing. The host, the band, the staff, everyone just has the best spirit and is there for a great time. I recommend this to anyone who wants to attend an event that feels like it is simultaneously about entertaining and building community. I know I’ll definitely have to go again!”

  “Great place for a delicious, good value takeaway lunch near to Old Street. £7.50. I have tried the chicken curry and jerk chicken and both were delicious and the portion was generous.”

  “Love this place. Great vibes. Definitely get there early and bring cash for the cover charge. Excellent musicians. Do wish they would have a word with people on the way in to remind them not to be loud/ disruptive when the music is being played. Would love to try the food here some day.”
