Quick info
About The Quality Chop House
On Farringdon Rd, The Quality Chop House is a chophouse restaurant set in a 19th-century former eating house, revamped into a Modern British dining room and wine bar. Sourdough bread arrives with Jersey butter, and croquettes are a frequent starter before mains such as the Hereford sirloin, a 400g steak often split between two. Confit potatoes accompany the cooking, crisp outside and soft within. The set menu changes every two weeks, giving the kitchen a rotating structure rather than a fixed lineup. Dessert brings olive oil ice cream, a salty-sweet dish distinct from a standard sweet finish. Walk-ins are taken, though tables are generally reserved in advance. For birthdays and other occasions, the team hand-writes and signs a card for the table.

Customer Review Summary
The confit potatoes draw the most consistent praise, described as crispy and salty with one diner comparing them to tiny lemon drizzle cakes, though one reviewer found them merely fine next to the rest of the meal. Close behind sits the sirloin steak, repeatedly called cooked to perfection, alongside standout dishes like the halibut, the pappardelle in bone broth, and the olive oil ice cream that several call a must-try despite its heavy salt. That saltiness becomes a real complaint for one couple, who found the confit potatoes, steak, and ice cream all oversalted for a bill of £167 without alcohol, questioning the value. Service draws mixed accounts too: most describe staff as warm, with one table receiving a handwritten birthday card and another a complimentary side, but one reviewer describes a server who walked away mid-compliment without apology and slow service when asking for the bill.

“The Quality Chop House in London was such a lovely first-time visit. I had seen a video from a well-known food blogger and randomly happened to be around the area, so lucky me, I managed to get a last-minute table. I started with their signature padron peppers, and honestly, they were mind-blowingly delicious. Then came the main event: the Ex-dairy Friesian Sirloin 400g, the priciest steak-for-one option on the day’s menu, done medium rare of course. Beautifully cooked, great quality, and exactly the kind of steak that makes the whole meal feel worth it. I also had their confit potatoes, and even though I was offered a half portion, it was still a lot after finishing the steak. Crispy, rich and really nice though. Service was excellent too, polite, helpful and warm throughout. I appreciated this place very much.”

“We really enjoyed our meal at The Quality Chop House. The food was excellent, and the sides were a perfect accompaniment to the mains. I had the pork chop, which was cooked well and full of flavour, although it was quite fatty. If you’re someone who enjoys a good amount of fat on your pork, you’ll absolutely love it. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his steak, and every side dish we ordered complemented our meal beautifully. We were also treated to a complimentary side from the kitchen, which was a lovely surprise and much appreciated. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome throughout the evening. To finish, we had the Bakewell tart, which was unexpectedly delicious. I don’t usually like Bakewell tart, but this one completely changed my mind. Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience and would happily return.”

“The best steak dinner I’ve ever had in my life, hands down. Genuinely the best meal I’ve had in 2026 and I cannot recommend a restaurant more. My girlfriend and I took a trip to London and on one of our last days in the city, we decided to celebrate our month-aversary here. Our order + Thoughts 1) Sourdough with Jersey butter - A nice, soft bread with an excellent butter. Solid start. 2) British Lop Croquettes with devilled mayonnaise - Pass. The Croquettes were nicely fried but didn’t have much flavor and the pork inside was very underwhelming as well. 3) Hereford sirloin 400g (basically 14oz) - Literally the best steak I’ve ever eaten. Cooked to perfection. Every slice just melts in your mouth while blasting you with an absolutely wonderful and surprisingly robust flavor. Perfect size for 2 to share with sides. 4. Confit Potatoes - My God what an excellent side. Surprisingly nutty with the most delicate balance between the crunchy exterior and soft as butter center. This is a MUST ORDER alongside any steak they sell. 5. Capezzana olive oil ice cream - MUST ORDER. I almost didn’t get this as we were mostly full but I’m so extremely grateful I chose to just get in anyway for the plot. The ice cream is a lot saltier than you would expect but it strikes such an incredible balance with the sugars from the very high quality ice cream alongside an extremely flavorful olive oil. It’s extremely rich and I felt that by the end I was starting to get overwhelmed with just how much flavor was in the bowl. Probably best to share with 3 rather than just 2 but get it anyways. To the team there, thank you so much for such an excellent meal. I will be coming back on my next trip.”

“The food was absolutely delicious across the board. The steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection, but the halibut was a real surprise star , the texture was incredible and the sauce it came with was so well balanced. Of course, I have to talk about the confit roast potatoes. They are honestly legendary for a reason! They look like tiny, golden lemon drizzle cakes, but they are probably the best alternative roasties I have ever put in my mouth. Crispy, salty, and just pure magic. The sourdough bread was some of the best I have had in any restaurant, perfect crust and a lovely tang. And whatever you do, please make sure you save some room for dessert. The olive oil ice cream is a must-try; it is such a simple idea but the sweet and salty combination is so moorish you will want a second bowl. On the service side, the staff were fantastic. They were warm, professional, and really made our night feel special. Nothing was too much trouble, which is exactly what you want when you are out with a group. While the quality of the ingredients and the level of skill in the kitchen are clear, the prices are definitely on the higher side. Some of the plates felt a little bit light for the cost, It might be worth slightly bumping up the portion sizes on those plates to make the value for money feel as top-tier as the flavour. That being said, the quality really does deliver on the plate. It is a brilliant spot for a special occasion or a treat for any fellow foodie. Highly recommended! It is a bit of a splurge, but for the history, the service, and those potatoes alone, it is 100% worth a visit.”
