About Riding House Bloomsbury

Riding House Bloomsbury is a London restaurant at 1 Brunswick Centre, in the brutalist surroundings of the Brunswick Centre. A terrace with lush greenery gives the restaurant a planted setting that suits a meal with company. The kitchen serves brunch alongside lunch and evening meals, so the same menu covers a morning table and a dinner booking. English breakfast is on the menu for the morning crowd, and the French toast comes in a cinnamon version and a plain one. Mac and cheese works as a side or as a main. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary

Breakfast and brunch draw the most praise, led by the English breakfast, which one visiting father called the best of his stay, with berry toast that kids devoured and a cinnamon French toast also singled out. Dinner reviewers name the sea bass, halloumi skewers, pork chops, and mac and cheese, plus fish and chips with extra crispy chips. Coffee gets repeated approval, and several describe friendly, attentive service, including a manager who explained the menu and bar staff called out for their hospitality. The recurring complaint concerns breakfast food arriving lukewarm. One reviewer found cold toast with no butter and small portions, another wanted hotter plates, and a third found the French toast crusts hard and the pancakes dense. One also noted a server who handed over menus and never returned. A student discount is mentioned as making brunch good value, and generous portions come up on the dinner side. One diner closed by noting a recommended wine pairing arrived alongside the sea bass.

“We went for the weekday brunch. The service and atmosphere was 10/10 as we were mainly served by a gentleman called Andre. Another man served us but didn’t do it properly as we asked for a menu to order coffee. He gave us the menu’s but never came back. Andre to the rescue thereafter. The food in all honesty could have been hotter and the plates more full. Whilst we did ask for the meat the be removed from my eggs Royale, restaurants of this nature would not serve a plate half empty, rather they would substitute it for some leafy greens ..etc. the cinnamon French roach was delicious save for the crusts which were quite hard for a French toast. The pancakes were also quite dense. Coffees were delicious and the eggs were cooked well. We were fortunate to have excellent company and first class hospitality from Andre which salvaged this brunch.”

“I have really enjoyed brunch here 3 times now and on my recent visit, had amazing service from Rakibul. The food is delicious, the service is great, and with the 25% student discount is excellent value. Will be back!”

“A very good meal! Everything was extremely flavourful and well presented. My husband especially liked the mac and cheese! I loved the halloumi skewers! Everyone was so friendly and the service was excellent! Thank you very much for a delicious evening meal!”

“I visited this place with my younger sister and her two kids. We ordered an English breakfast, berry toast, and plain French toast. We are currently traveling, and choosing meals for the kids has been quite a headache. However, everything on the menu here was absolutely fantastic. The berry toast, in particular, was impressively moist on the inside, and the kids ended up devouring the whole thing. The manager's attentive assistance and guidance were incredibly helpful. Their explanations of the menu and recommendations were spot-on, and the service was exceptionally friendly. The waitstaff also consistently checked in on us, which helped us smoothly get through a hectic meal with the kids. Thank you for helping us start our day on such a happy note. I would love to visit again on my next trip to London.”

“The sea bass was amazing! Super fresh and tasty. There wasn’t much on top of it so I’m not sure what they cooked it in but whatever it was, was delicious!! I tried the wine they had said would pair well with it which was also delicious. The service was very good, atmosphere was terrific, a very nice buzz in the background with good music. Overall I had absolutely no complaints and if I lived in London I’d be back every week. Highly recommend.”
