About Persian royal
Fresh bread comes out of a clay oven by the door at Persian royal, a Persian restaurant on Upper Richmond Rd W in London, so warm naan reaches the table alongside the rest of the meal. The kitchen works through a menu of around 125 dishes, with kebabs such as koobideh and chicken kebab and stews including ghormeh sabzi, served with saffron rice. Starters run to grilled aubergine and yoghurt with cucumber, and salads include Shirazi and Olvieh. A grill plate sharer for two suits couples splitting the grilled meats, and the team takes bookings and sets up pre-arranged tables for groups of six to nine. Diners can bring their own bottle, and a garden sits at the rear. The restaurant reopened under new management after a period of closure and changed its name at that point. It opens daily, and Persian tea closes the meal.

Customer Review Summary
The grilled meats anchor most accounts, with the koobideh described as soft and smoky and the chicken kebab as moist and juicy, served alongside saffron rice that several felt was done properly. Close behind come the stews, with ghormeh sabzi named repeatedly as rich and authentic, and the fresh bread baked in the clay oven by the door. Persian tea after the meal comes up again and again, as does the grill plate sharer for two, grilled aubergine, and the cucumber and yoghurt starter. Groups of six and nine report tables ready on arrival and food arriving in good time, and Persian diners describe the cooking as generous and tasting like home. Several mention the restaurant reopening under new management, one saying quality improved. The dissent is sharp: one longtime regular found a single staff member working on a Friday evening, no music beyond a phone, prices much higher, and walked out after waiting while the waiter watched videos. One vegan diner wanted the menu clearer about which dishes contain yoghurt.

“Used to come here all the time as the food was delicious and service great. Came in tonight (Friday 7.30pm) for the first time since the restaurant changed name - one person working, no music playing other than from what the waiter was watching from his phone and the prices have sky rocketed… we waited ten minutes as he sat on his phone watching YouTube….then we walked out. Won’t be returning which is a massive shame.”

“This restaurant has a really nice vibe. It had been closed for a while, but apparently it reopened a few months ago under new management. The food quality is even better than before. We went last Thursday; I’m a big fan of the stews, as …”

“We booked Persian Royal Restaurant for a gathering of nine people and were very impressed with how smoothly everything went. Large groups can sometimes be difficult to manage, but the staff here handled it brilliantly. Our table was ready when we arrived, and all the food came out in a timely manner despite the size of our order. We ordered a variety of kebabs, stews, rice dishes, salads, and desserts so everyone could try something different. Every single person in our group commented on how delicious the food was. The koobideh was soft and smoky, the chicken kebab was moist, and the stews tasted rich and authentic. The bread was fresh and the tea at the end was a lovely touch. The staff were friendly, patient, and always smiling, which made our celebration even more enjoyable. This restaurant is definitely a great choice for family gatherings or birthdays. We had a wonderful time and would happily recommend it to anyone.”

“Very good food, loved the Ghormeh Sabzi. Good place for a vegan meal, though the menus could be clearer as to what dishes are made with yoghurt and therefore not vegan. Will be back 👌👍 …”

“As Persians, we truly love the food in Persian Royal, it’s generous, incredibly tasty, and feels just like home. Not every Persian restaurant manages to offer such high quality at an affordable price, but this place certainly does. Overall, we’re very happy and would highly recommend it to everyone.”
