Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the craft beer selection, with one counting 19 beers on tap and five on cask at this freehouse, and others praising the beers and the patio. Close behind are the warm, cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, with quick counter service noted. Food divides opinion. Praised dishes include fish and chips, a curried cauliflower burger with thrice cooked chips, a Sunday roast with tender chicken breast and crispy potatoes, and pie and mash. A full English and avocado toast also earned thanks. Others report poor quality: one group describes a buffet of grey sausages, rubbery chicken and Brie, answered with a grudging plate of chips and onion rings and then two bottles of Prosecco. Another calls a chicken burger tiny, made of tough overcooked thigh meat under plastic cheese. One reviewer skipped the food after hearing it gets a bad rap. Two reviewers mention live music, a guitarist playing to patrons inside and outside, and one honeymooning couple had their song sung to them.

“Came here for a birthday party. Tube station is literally across the road. Also a short walk from Waterloo Station. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. The vibe got even better with the lady on guitar playing to patrons both inside and outside. Food was fine. Staff were very friendly. Did not get too busy.”

“Stopped in for fish and chips and got a great dose of local culture. World Cup was showing and it was relatively crowded, especially for a Monday. Service was excellent and fairly quick by UK standards.”

“We are from the states and really enjoyed the warm and cozy atmosphere here. I tried Pie and Mash and was truly delighted trying something unique. For those from the states its a thick beef stew inside of a flaky pie crust, with a side of mash potatoes and some green leafy stuff on the side. My man had a double cheeseburger which he enjoyed. We finished it with a jam doughnut shot which was a nice way to complete our meal. If in doubt ask the extremely helpful, friendly staff.”

“We love the food. Fish and chips were delicious. Everyone was amazing. Diane, the singer, was soooo sweet and talented. She sang our song as we were on our honeymoon trip. We love it and definitely will come back! 💕”
