About Fusion 54
Fusion 54 is a buffet-style canteen inside the Dyson School of Design in London, serving an Asian fusion menu to anyone walking in off the corridor rather than taking bookings. Mornings start with a hot breakfast that comes with a hot drink, and the lunch menu changes rather than holding to a fixed list, running to around 19 dishes across the counter. Because the food is served buffet style, plates can be mixed and matched, so veg biryani rice and a curry can share the same tray. The peri2 Chicken Sandwich and Pad Thai sit among the choices, with vegan and vegetarian options on the counter alongside them. Hot drinks and smoothies are poured next to the food. It is a small university restaurant rather than a formal dining room, and it fills up and grows crowded around the middle of the day, though the queue tends to move quickly. The kitchen runs Monday to Saturday and closes on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
The affordability of this university cafe is what reviewers raise most, with several calling the portions generous for what they pay and one comparing it favourably to nearby museum cafes. Close behind is the changing breakfast and lunch spread, where diners single out the peri2 chicken sandwich and sweet chilli sandwich, the Thursday chicken Pad Thai and chorizo pasta, and a mix and match of veg biryani rice and curry chicken. Several describe the food as fresh tasting with a homemade touch, and note plentiful vegan options and quick service from staff they call friendly, helpful and kind. Dissent is real, though. One reviewer found the noodles stale, dried out and hard, everything drowned in soy sauce to the point of being extremely salty, with vegetables and chicken that tasted and smelled off, and describes the room as overcrowded. Another reports being served by someone rude who did not make things clear. A few others mention it gets busy at lunch.

“Been in area and decided to give them a go, since reviews are so good. Food wasn't good at all, barely edible, if I wasn't hungry I would have left my meal. Noodles were stale and old, some of it with hard texture and dried out, I realise it's prepared earlier and not ready to order, but have never seen Chinese food that bad. Everything was covered in soya sauce so wouldn't get any flavours from ingredients. Just extremally salty taste. Even veggies tasted bad and chicken was old, smelled badly. Seriously I don't remember eating food that bad, get ready to eat meal from Tesco, would taste much better. But you'd need microwave. Service was ok, people working there look miserable, can't blame them, London is a miserable place if you don't earn at least 60k, anything lower looks live survival. It's Uni canteen so don't expect anything fancy here, lot's of people, overcrowded. Only positive: it's cheap and I didn't get food poisoning which was expected, so would give 2 stars instead of 1. Avoid, avoid, avoid.”
