  “What we ordered; 1 x egg 1 x mushroom dumplings 1 x tofu dandan noodles 1 x aubergine noodles The menu said Yu shiang eggs. So I thought there would’ve been 2 eggs. But there was only 1 egg. So they really should’ve called it Yu shiang egg. Not eggs. Everything tasted fine except for the aubergine noodles. The tempura aubergine and the soup were completely tasteless. What prompted such a low score was the service. We waited 45 min for 2 vegetarian noodles. It wasn’t even that busy. Tables around us came and left, and we were still waiting. As if the waiting wasn’t enough, there were A LOT of wait staff aimlessly walking around the narrow corridors between tables not doing much. One particularly creepy middle age Caucasian server in glasses liked to lean over tables and stand way too close to customers for no apparent reason. It made the long wait very uncomfortable. May be if they had more staff in the kitchen vs on the floor, our food would’ve gone faster and we would’ve been more comfortable with less staff loitering 🤷🏻‍♀️”

  “Bao never disappoints! The food is always delicious, especially the bao buns. You have to try the beef bao and dip it in the egg yolk—it takes it to another level!”

  “The fried chicken bao was smaller than expected. The tempura aubergine noodles was quite nice though. (Note: Photos show food partially eaten.) can be difficult to get service on weekend.”

  “we had a very satisfying lunch. we have visited another branch before, but this one was much more generous with the portions and the overall quality was much better. we will definitely be coming back! a special thank you to divya for taking such great care of us.”

  “Visited yesterday for lunch the atmosphere was quite chill. My server Mimi was very helpful and attentive. The Char Bao was my favourite the pork belly was nice and soft, my only critique would be the slaw makes it a bit messy, but the tempura mayo is delicious. Would recommend 👌”

  “Me and my brother were seated quickly and immediately received fantastic service. Upon mentioning halal as my dietary restriction, the waitress offered me a separate halal menu, widening my choices from vegetarian & fish to include halal chicken dishes too. The food arrived in good time and was extremely tasty. It can get a little cramped, however the food and service makes it worth the visit. Will for sure be dining here again.”

  “It was tasty the first time we visited several months ago. Today the queue was staggering but the restaurant was half empty. After a wait of 25 minutes all the queues suddenly disappeared. I am not at all sure why the queue was cleared in such a strange manner. Was it because they wanted to create a queue in front as part of the marketing? This time we were really hungry but alas the food quality deteriorated. The beef spare rib noodle was just too oily and the beef taste so weird. The beef bun was very nice though. The service was quick. This I must commend. Will I queue again for 25 minutes in the future? Sadly No.”

  “It was an interesting and enjoyable experience. I haven’t visited their other branches, but this one was quite good. That said, it’s not as amazing as some people make it out to be. However, some items on the menu were genuinely very good, and the atmosphere was also nice. The staff were nearly flawless in their service. It’s definitely worth trying.”

  “I visited BAO Battersea Power Station yesterday evening with a friend. Unfortunately, both of us became very unwell afterwards. Within 24 hours we both experienced severe stomach pain and diarrhea. As we shared the same dishes at the restaurant and had otherwise eaten separately that day, it strongly suggests the issue may be related to the meal we had here. Food safety is extremely important, so this experience was quite concerning and disappointing. I would appreciate it if the restaurant could look into this matter and review their food handling and hygiene practices. I hope someone from the team can reach out to follow up on this situation.”

  “We were craving Asian food and decided to see what was around Battersea Park, so out of curiosity we ended up trying BAO Battersea. We were simply looking for a place to eat and did not have particularly high expectations. Once we sat down and properly looked at the menu, everything changed. We ordered a selection of bao together with two noodle dishes, and the food was absolutely fantastic. The short ribs beef bao was sensational. The meat was incredibly tender, rich and full of flavour, perfectly balanced inside a soft and fluffy bun. It was honestly one of the best bao I have ever had. We also ordered the Taiwanese beef noodles, which were deeply comforting with a rich and silky broth and beautifully cooked beef. Every bite felt authentic and carefully prepared. On top of that, we tried the bone marrow noodles, which were truly impressive. The roasted bone marrow melted into the noodles, creating an intense, buttery richness that made the whole dish incredibly indulgent and satisfying. It was both visually striking and absolutely delicious. Now we already want to go back just to do a full bao tasting, because I have genuinely never had bao this good anywhere else. The whole experience completely exceeded our expectations and turned a casual visit into a memorable dining experience.”
