Customer Review Summary
Fish in a light, crispy batter is what most reviewers come away talking about, with the cod and the haddock both named as classic, no-frills fish and chips. Huge portions come up repeatedly, and the chips are called proper and excellent. Several describe the staff as warm, kind, and pleasant, and one notes quick service. One pair of visitors returned for a second meal during a short stay. The criticism is specific. One reviewer at a late lunch found the fish and chips dry and tasteless, needing a lot of salt and vinegar, and suggests coming early or having the fish cooked to order. Another found the chips soft after being wrapped in paper to go, and described the staff as surly on all three visits, though still called the meal tasty. Two reviewers note it is cash only.

“I just left, and everything was great. The saleswoman was very nice and patient, even though we were indecisive. The food was delicious, cheap, and the portions were huge. It’s a great place to try the classic fish and chips in London.”

“Good old traditional chippy. The cod was good and it was accompanied with proper chips.”

“Good: decent looking fish, good size, not greasy, light batter; good portion of chips Not so good: fish very dry, not flaky and so tasteless; chips dry and tasteless. Both needed a lot of salt and vinegar to bring them to life. £16.50 quite pricey. Not good value considering the meal I had. Advice: I had a late lunch at 2.30pm. The fish probably had been cooked a while before and had been hanging around, hence the dryness. Fish and chips are only ever enjoyable when freshly cooked. Best come early or have the fish cooked to order.”

“I'd never tried authentic fish and chips in London, and I have to say I had a wonderful meal here. The fish was tender and the chips were excellent. The portions were generous, and the atmosphere was relaxed.”

“Went here during our trip to London. We’ve been to many wonderful places and seen many beautiful sights, but the one thing I reminisce about the most is the fish and chips we had in this place. It’s not the prettiest spot and the dish is very simple, but man, it was sooo good. Good price, generous portion size, very pleasant staff. Wish I was there right now.”
