About Arepa & Co Venezuelan Restaurant Brixton
Arepa & Co Venezuelan Restaurant Brixton is a casual Venezuelan restaurant in Brixton, London, founded by Venezuelan entrepreneurs who built the menu around arepas, tequeños and Pabellón. The arepas include a chicken version filled with avocado and fried plantain, and a smaller black bean and cheese arepita. Tequeños come with cheese and a guava sauce for dipping, and the beef is served with fried plantain alongside. The kitchen also makes yuca fries with a dipping sauce, and buñuelos with whipped feta. Vegetarian options sit on the menu for guests who skip meat. The restaurant is open daily and serves lunch, brunch and dinner. Sugar cane lemonade, made in house, is on the drinks list.

Customer Review Summary
Arepas draw the most praise, especially a chicken arepa with mashed avocado, melted cheese and hot, crispy fried plantain on a light corn bread. Close behind are the tequeños, cheese pastries served with guava sauce that one diner wanted more of, and the homemade sugar cane lemonade. Others single out juicy beef with fried banana, yuca fries and flavourful starters. Bunuelos with whipped feta were found a little heavy, and one reviewer felt the black bean and cheese arepita needed a sauce or vegetable. A vegetarian and one family with dietary needs both report plenty of choices, and the service and music earn warm mentions. The sharpest criticism comes from one reviewer who found the interior messy, the stools low quality, the drinks list thinner than the website promotes and the prices high for the portions, and who says two Deliveroo orders each arrived hours late. One diner's husband liked his arepa so much he asked for a second.

“Came here yesterday with a friend for a little dinner date. We was greeted with immaculate service and great food. On arrival we was told service was a little slow as there was only one person on the floor and one chef in the kitchen, yet food was still on our table within 30 minutes, piping hot fresh and absolutely delicious. I would highly highly recommend”

“The food was way beyond any expectations I had!!! 5 STARS As I walked past the mouth watering smell is what drew us into this fine establishment. The sugar cane lemonade is everything to write home about, the starters were soo flavourful, the mains were amazing, tender meat, flavourful sauces and literal silence with every bite. Couldn't have found a nicer place to spend my evening with friends. 10/10. 100% recommended”

“Came on a drizzley June Saturday after a workout and got a table no problem but there was still a good spill of people. Everything on the menu looked amazing. Dine in order: Cheese pastries with guava - 7.5/10 Arepa with chicken & yucca fries - 8.5/10 I’ve not really had Venezuelan food but this was delicious! I want to come back and try more. The cheese pastries taste like American pilsbury crescent rolls wrapped around a soft block of sweet soft cheese (nothing like what you buy in the market for bagels but real cheese). The guava sauce is amazing I would’ve wanted more! Good to share so you can have 1-1.5. Would recommend! The chicken arepa was so bright but also so simple. The chicken is like a shredded chicken mayo salad, the mashed avocado adds a lot of comfort, the melted cheese adds some good flavor and a little oil, and the fried plantain is just to die for - it’s so hot and crispy! And the arepa breading itself is so light and simple. Amazing! The yuca fries are a lot of fun as well though I probably didn’t need them (I prefer thin crispy fries va thicker chips), however they were fried perfectly and crisp and the dipping sauce was a nice touch. Would recommend!”

“Unexpected nice... food, service and atmosphere! All freshly prepared, hot, tasty. The beef is juucy. It goes very well with fried banana. The corn bread is crispy and full of favour. The lemonade is not to miss. It is home made!”
