About Sodo Pizza Walthamstow
Down an alley opposite the Soho Theatre Walthamstow stage door, Sodo Pizza Walthamstow is a pizza restaurant in London at 21 Hatherley Mews, set in a converted warehouse yard that used to be a tram repair shed. Pizzas are built on sourdough bases, and a pizza special of the day runs alongside the regular menu, which includes the Funghi. Cheesy garlic bread and olives come as starters, and tiramisu is on the dessert menu. The drinks list covers house wine, chilled red wine and espresso. The menu has one vegan pizza, the veggie pizza made without cheese, and there is no vegan cheese. The restaurant opens Tuesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the pizza, with the crunchy, blistered crust, the Funghi Five and the pizza special of the day singled out. Cheesy garlic bread and olives get a nod as starters, and tiramisu, house wine, chilled red wine and an espresso to finish are also mentioned. Diners describe a buzzy room tucked down an alley, though one notes the bare walls make it noisy. Service draws steady praise, with reviewers describing a friendly waiter and young staff running the floor, in one case a single server handling the whole restaurant. The main complaint comes from vegans. Two reviewers say the lone vegan pizza is just the veggie pizza without cheese, with sparse toppings and no vegan cheese anywhere, and one said they would have preferred beans on toast. A couple also mention slow pizzas on a busy day with many takeaway orders. One reviewer left with a free tomato can from outside.

“If you are vegan, do not bother. Foolish I, assuming a sourdough pizzeria called 'Sodo' in Walthamstow would obviously cater to vegans. Obviously assuming proved the adage. There was one vegan option on the menu, and it was a sorry state. Hardly any toppings, no vegan cheese in the whole place, I would have preferred beans on toast. If you're not a vegan, i'm sure it's lovely. Unless you go with a vegan, like my partner and the person on a date on the next table, then you'll have to put up with our annoyance. Service was great, despite the lack of food.”

“SODO Walthamstow: A Vibe Check ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tucked away in an alley opposite the Soho Theatre Walthamstow stage door like it's giving *secret speakeasy* energy, not just a pizza spot — bestie, I was ALREADY sold before the dough even hit the oven. Walked in feeling very "main character prowling the back streets of E17" and the venue said: say less. Two waitresses, couldn't have been older than 25, running the floor with the kind of snap professionalism that should honestly be studied in business school. No notes. Immaculate vibes. Ordered the pizza special of the day and it slapped so hard I nearly asked it to therapy. 10/10, would let it live rent-free in my memory forever. Then — and I cannot stress this enough — THREE glasses of *chilled* red wine. Chilled. Red wine. The audacity. The bougie-core execution. I felt like I was starring in a European indie film about a woman who has her life Together™. Chased it with a double Frangelico on the rocks because balance is key and also because I simply felt like it. Bonus points to the table next who brought unprompted but deeply appreciated conversational content to my evening. 10/10 hospitality, accidental and otherwise. Oh-só-Soho-SODO-satisfactory. Would prowl this alley again. 🍕🍷”

“SODO Walthamstow: A Vibe Check ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Found opposite the Soho Theatre Walthamstow stage door, tucked down an alley like the developers accidentally left in a secret level. The kind of place that makes you whisper, “Oh… this is where the people with taste have been hiding.” I hadn’t even seen the menu and my serotonin had already clocked in. Inside? Two waiters running the floor with the efficiency of a Formula One pit crew but somehow still making everyone feel like the only table in the room. Hospitality? Actually alive and well. Ordered the pizza special of the day. Reader… it absolutely violated my expectations. The crust had that perfectly blistered, leopard-spotted situation going on. The toppings understood the assignment, rewrote the assignment, then got promoted. Every bite felt unnecessarily competent. I’m now emotionally attached to a pizza, which frankly wasn’t on my 2026 bingo card. Then came THREE glasses of chilled red wine. Chilled. Red. Wine. I don’t make the rules. Apparently Italy does. Within twenty minutes I was mentally redecorating a Tuscan farmhouse I do not own and developing very strong opinions about linen shirts. Naturally, I followed this entirely sensible sequence of events with a double Frangelico on the rocks because wellness is about listening to your body, and mine said, “Hazelnuts.” Special mention goes to the woman at the next table, who unknowingly provided premium-grade people-watching content all evening. Not eavesdropping—curating the ambience. Final verdict? Elite staff. Elite pizza. Elite wine choices. Zero pretension. Maximum smugness on the walk home. SODO didn’t just pass the vibe check. It audited mine. Would absolutely disappear down that alley again. No notes. 🍕🍷✨”

“My family and I Visited on Saturday to celebrate my Birthday, Just before a Matinee Show at Soho Theatre which is Conveniently located directly next door. We were so Impressed by the Service provided by the Young lady on shift (As were all of the Other tables that we Got to talking to!) Who handled The entire restaurant Alone and Swimmingly. The pizzas were Amazing (Funghi Five Pizza), It Took quite a while to Get the Pizzas however Appreciate They were Busy. Definitely will be back. Extra Props to that young lady and the Chef on Shift Highly Recommend , Thank you For hosting us 😊”

“Thoroughly enjoyiled my lunch here and will be back! We only needed 1 pizza between 2, but had 2 and a side, and tiramisu, it all looked too good to walk away from 🫣 The pizza was genuinely amazing, I'd probably say you don't need quite so much food between 2 people as by the time we got to our tiramisu we were so full we couldn't fully appreciate them although they were very tasty. That also had tomato cans outside you could take which was really cool and just a fun unexpected perk.”
