Customer Review Summary

Short rib is the cut diners name most, described as tender, marinated in sweet soy and needing only seconds on the grill. Wagyu comes close behind, with one reviewer saying it melts in the mouth after a quick sear. Filet mignon, garlic-heavy lamb chops and spicy pork also draw praise. Starters and sides get mentions too, including cheesy corn, gyoza, spring rolls and a salmon starter with fresh ginger. Reviewers call the staff friendly and attentive, and several like cooking everything themselves to their own preference. The complaints are specific. One reviewer was disappointed that the short ribs came without the bone, and another found the beef a bit lacking in flavour and wanted it marinated longer. A reviewer on the all you can eat option mentions a time limit and a cap on plates per order, and suggests knowing the dishes beforehand. Dessert is singled out by some, with s'mores arriving as a warm toasted marshmallow with chocolate and graham crackers, alongside yuzu sorbet.

“Absolutely fantastic experience at Kintan Japanese BBQ! The quality of the meat was outstanding—fresh, tender, and beautifully marbled. We loved the variety of beef cuts, the flavorful marinated options, and the fresh prawns. The salmon was also incredibly delicious and cooked perfectly. The side dishes were just as impressive, especially the cheesy corn, gyoza, miso soup, and fresh salad. Everything was well presented and tasted amazing. The staff were friendly, attentive, and quick to help throughout the meal, making the whole dining experience smooth and enjoyable. The restaurant had a great atmosphere, perfect for a meal with friends or family. If you’re looking for high-quality Japanese BBQ with excellent service and delicious food, Kintan is definitely worth a visit. We’ll definitely be coming back! Highly recommended! 🔥🥩🍤”

“I’ve been to Kintan Holborn twice, and it’s really my FAVOURITE Japanese BBQ spot in London. We had the Ninja Course Happy Hour (£78 for two) this time which was of fantastic value. It comes with a great variety of premium beef, seafood, sides, a main and dessert, and we left completely full. The meat quality is consistently excellent. Everything smelled amazing as soon as it arrived, and once on the grill the meat stayed juicy and full of flavour. We also saw the Summer Limited Wagyu chuck flap, Wagyu rib finger and Iberico pork rib. Would like to try next time. Don’t skip dessert if you still have room! Yuzu sorbet and s’mores are amazing!! It’s in a really convenient location near Chancery Lane Station, making it an easy choice for lunch or dinner.”

“First time visiting Kintan and was pleasantly surprised. Seated upstairs at the entrance level immediately for our reserved table for a group of 4. Strawberry Mai Tai was my choice of drink for the night and was very tasty! I like that you get to cook your meat/fish yourself and you can do so completely to your satisfaction. Nice added touch. The noodles were plentiful - good sized portion and the spring rolls were delicious, amongst other starters we tried.”

“Had such a great dinner here! The quality of the meat was excellent, especially the Harami and Kalbi definitely our favourites. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned and cooked beautifully. The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout the meal. For around £50 per person, we left absolutely stuffed, which is honestly great value for London.”

“A great place to try Japanese BBQ and perfect for group eating. The selection here is good with marinated meats, bibimbaps, salads and sides. You must try the Wagyu and Short Rib. The larger the group the better, you can then order a larger selection. Good for friends before a night out.”
