Quick info
About ASK Italian - South Kensington
ASK Italian - South Kensington is an Italian restaurant in London at 23-24 Gloucester Rd, open daily. The menu centres on pizzas and pastas, including a pasta with mushrooms, and a lemon tart with raspberry coulis closes the meal. Guests managing allergies can ask the team for the allergen binder, which gives a full breakdown of every dish, and dishes prepared with allergies in mind carry a sticker that says so. That lets diners check ingredients before they order. Large groups are catered for as well, with Christmas dinners for around 50 people served from a dedicated Christmas menu in a room dressed with Christmas decorations.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the pasta and pizza, with a mushroom pasta described as creamy, rich and cooked perfectly, and a lemon tart with raspberry coulis called "to die for". One reviewer adds that the beef and pork dishes are melt-in-the-mouth. Close behind is staff warmth under pressure: several describe friendly, kind service during a hectic dinner rush, and walk-ins without a booking were seated quickly. The lively, noisy room suits kids and large groups, and one reviewer returns yearly for a Christmas dinner for around 50. One reviewer with a milk allergy was given an allergen binder for every dish. Criticism is mixed. One reviewer calls the pizza and pasta bland, thin, with little topping and overpriced, with no salt or cheese at the table. Another found service slow with a single server at lunch. Two reviewers report an impatient or rude woman, one a supervisor, though both say the rest of the staff were friendly. One diner notes the allergy team handed over a "made with your allergy in mind" sticker with the main dish.

“My husband and I stopped by for coffee yesterday evening, and unfortunately our experience was spoiled by the service from the blonde lady who appeared to be a manager or supervisor, as she wasn’t wearing the standard staff uniform. While the rest of the staff were friendly and polite, her attitude was extremely rude and unwelcoming. Good customer service starts with treating guests with respect, and sadly that was completely missing. Someone with such poor customer service skills shouldn’t be in a customer-facing role. Staff who interact with guests should be polite, professional, and welcoming. I hope management addresses this, as the rest of the team made a much better impression.”

“I loved the chaos and noisy dining area catering to kids of all ages from 4 to 84 years old. People of all background converge to enjoy delicious Italian classics and some modernized dishes. The lemon tart with raspberry coulis is to die for! Service was wonderful and kind despite the hectic dinner rush. Would highly recommend.”

“The restaurant was below our expectations, but the highlight of our visit was Alfred. He was incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout our time there. His positive attitude and excellent customer service left a lasting impression. Thank you, Alfred, for your outstanding service. You truly deserve recognition.”

“I was truly impressed with how the ASK Italian team handled my milk allergy. After I mentioned my allergy at the door, I was given a binder with a full breakdown of allergens for every dish on the menu, enabling me to order with confidence. When my main dish arrived, it included a "made with your allergy in mind" sticker for additional peace of mind. I will definitely add this restaurant to my list of "safe" venues for group lunches and dinners moving forward.”

“Great Location, fantastic experience as I turned up without a booking one Saturday recently, 06/06/2026 if I recall...super helpful and friendly upon reception, made a space for me and meal that followed - pizza + dessert = 1st class. A further two staff very helpful and friendly too, all in all in such a busy spot a great experience. Highly recommend 100% - go visit! Cheers, Julian.”
