Quick info
About Chin Chin Ice Cream
Chin Chin Ice Cream is an ice cream shop in London, set inside Seven Dials Market at 35 Earlham St. Every batch is frozen with liquid nitrogen, which gives the menu its range of unusual flavours. The Block of Butter ice cream is presented like a block of butter, and the banana bread toast arrives with honey butter ice cream in butter-shaped slices. The sticky toffee pudding is paired with burnt caramel ice cream. For something hot, the Chin Chin Hot Chocolate comes topped with torched marshmallow fluff. The shop works on a walk-in basis, and new specialty ice cream items appear regularly.

Customer Review Summary
The signature hot chocolate with torched marshmallow fluff is the most discussed order, and reviewers split on it. One enjoys watching it made and calls the melted marshmallow thick and perfectly toasted, though a bit sweet. Another finds the fluff tastes strongly of egg and is not fully seared. Close behind, the sticky toffee pudding with burnt caramel ice cream is called flavourful, and the banana bread toast with butter-shaped ice cream slices is enjoyed as inventive and fun. Others describe the ice cream as rich and creamy, with a wide, unusual menu and a good gluten free selection. Cost draws mixed comment, with one reviewer calling it not overpriced for London and another finding portions small for the money. The coffee olive oil flavour was interesting but not wow for one reviewer. The harshest account describes a banana bread toast with a metallic, play-doh like sauce and a tiny slab of ice cream, and a refund followed because the staff understood the problem.

“Had the coffee olive oil .. was interesting but not wow tbh.. the set up inside the market also rather lowkey.. staff hyper friendly tho!”

“The ice cream was rich, creamy and a little different from anywhere else I’ve been, making it feel like more than just dessert. A fun experience and definitely worth the visit while exploring Camden.”

“I had the sticky toffee pudding with burnt caramel ice cream, it was so good! At £7.50 it’s not exactly cheap, but comparable to other restaurants around London.”

“Ordered the banana bread toast with honey butter ice cream and it was awful! Had to return for a refund! The sauce inside tasted metallic and almost like play-doh…couldn’t stomach more than a few bites. Thankfully the service was good and they understood the issue. The banana bread itself was so dense and they gave the tiniest slab of “ice cream” that it was almost pointless! Would not return again.”

“I finally tried the famous Signature Chin Chin Hot Chocolate with the Torched Gooey Marshmallow Fluff. The experience is amazing to watch and the melted marshmallow is incredible so thick and perfectly toasted. To be honest, my expectations were very high because of the hype, but it was still a very good and tasty treat. A bit sweet, but a must try if you are in the area and want something unique. Great atmosphere too”
