  “Excellent place that will be my go to for takeaways from now. Everything fresh, good quality food at a reasonable price. Chicken shish was very good quality, authentic, well marinaded and well grilled. Delicious garlic and chilli sauces too. The chips were freshly fried, crispy outside and soft inside!”

  “Best cheapest fish in chips in all of London! Lunch menu special 12-14 are a steal! Obviously only a couple of tables but for 6 pounds a portion I take it!”

Together with the distance we have to come, it probably means we won't be back. ---- Original review: Staff always friendly, and the medium fish and chips deal for £9.90 is great value and very good quality. Hope it keeps going as we go quite far out of our way to come here for it.”

  “This place is an absolute hidden gem. I work nearby and visit most days for lunch, I wouldn't recommend anywhere else, proper fish and chip shop like this there ain't many around. The staff are friendly and always happy to make you feel welcome, There are a lot of regulars, myself included many of whom are greeted by name which is a friendly touch. Great Food Great Staff Great Prices Quality Fish and Chips. 10/10”

  “Tryed the lunchtime special fish n chips for £6 it was amazing nice fresh fish and batter is lovley and crispy. Chips were perfectly cooked. Staff spot on, plenty of smiles. Shout out to Harrison Webb as he paid for it. Cheers will defo order from here again”

  “I ate my first fish n' chips here and i loved it!! I would call it a definition of a comfort meal. A big, fresh and crispy fish with homemade fries and absolutely amazing gravy! I took a hammock, which was very delicate and perfectly prepared. The place is a little far from the crowd of tourism and you can really feel like a local here and take a rest from all of the crowd. I recommend it with all of my heart!!”

  “Impressively delicious and freshly fried cod. They also have haddock selection. Plus many other protein and deep fried and kebabs. We ordered the large size fried cod ( really worth it) chips are added if you want. We chose medium for the chips size. We also got fried calamari. We ate inside, there are a few tables in the back. Tartar sauce is packaged ( it would elevate the experience with some homemade tartar sauce ) the other condiments are on the tables. Vinegar paired so great with the fried. It seem like they were frying freshly as you can hear the bubbling oil! Which means, we waited for about 15 minutes for the meal to arrive. Worth every second. Hot and thick piece of cod!! It would have been nice if it was on a plate with reusable cutlery, as the bamboo ones are not the most efficient at picking up fish! Again, highly recommend if you are in the area. A 10min close walk by Tower Bridge towards Bermondsey.”

  “Going to tower bridge? Why not stop by Johnny's Fish Bar where the service is friendly, the food is fresh, the price is beyond reasonable, and most importantly, the taste is amazing? The fish and chips I had here was by far the best I have ever had. As this was my first and last (for now) fish and chips in London/England I don't have anything to compare it to. However, this definitely set the bar. After crossing the Tower Bridge, I arrived at Johnny's at around 11, which was when the fish and chips were just about prepared to be fried. I waited about 20minutes, which was well worth the time considering I was able to get the fish and chips at their special lunch time offer at just 3.90 pounds. And for that price the food was incredible. The fish was fluffy and meaty, the batter was thin and crisp. The chips were more soft than crispy which I didn't really mind. I had it with a side of mushy peas, which was also great. I also liked how the food itself is either lightly salted or not salted at all, which allows you to control the amount of salt you would like with your food. I had meant to give the fish and chips a taste to adjust for seasoning and take it to go, but after one bite of the freshly fried fish, I devoured it in one sitting. The next time I to go to London, this is probably going to be my first stop!”
