“Revisit the 1960’s when Carnaby Street was the headquarters of world fashion and fish and chips was the nation’s favourite meal. Our menu is authentic and unpretentious, but everything we do is produced using the finest ingredients prepared with the same values we’ve held for over 50 years. Dine amongst our collection of vintage photographs from the era when stars including Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger to create the epicentre of London cool right here. With a full bar including seasonal specials and a classic soundtrack you won’t hear anywhere else, we’re sure you’ll find us the perfect venue for a date, family get together, or a sneaky working lunch on our outdoor terrace. Quality, value and atmosphere in the heart of the West End.”

“Tasteful fish n chips. About $20 which isn’t too bad for being right in Carnaby street. Decent size but the breading seemed to be a bit airy meaning the meat was smaller than anticipated inside. Overall still a pleasant meal and drink”

“We had a great experience! The fish was absolutely delicious- fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. Our waiter, Dean, was fantastic: friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome throughout our meal. I accidentally dropped my plate, and without hesitation Dean replaced it, which was such a kind gesture and really stood out. Excellent customer service paired with great food. We would definitely recommend this place and will happily return!”

“Outstanding fish and chips in the heart of London! The cod was incredibly fresh with a light, crispy golden batter, while the chips were perfectly cooked and crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Friendly service, generous portions, and a great location just off Carnaby Street. Easily one of the best fish and chips I’ve had in London. Highly recommended!”

“Definitely one of the better fish and chips we’ve had! If you're looking for an excellent meal in the area, Carnaby Fish Bar is a fantastic choice. We stopped in and were thoroughly impressed by a few key standouts: The Food: The fish and chips were incredibly fresh, crisp, and very tasty. The batter had the perfect crunch without being overly greasy. Pro-tip: make sure to add salt and vinegar—it really brings out the excellent, vibrant flavors! The Atmosphere & Service:It is a relatively small space, but they have truly made the most of the layout to keep it comfortable. The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and fast. The Value: Prices are definitely at the higher end, but given the central location, it is completely expected and absolutely worth it for the quality you receive. Highly recommended if you want high-quality, authentic fish and chips!”

“Harry and Abz were fantastic!!! The fish and chips were wonderful and quick, with VERY nice air conditioning in the back room. It is a bit pricey; I paid 46 pounds ($62) for fish and chips, curry sauce, a water, and a cocktail, but I'd totally come again! Excellent food, location, and staff.”

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the cod and chips, praising fish that tastes fresh under a light, crisp golden batter that one chef says never gets soggy even after lemon and vinegar. Chips are described as crispy outside and fluffy inside, and a cold beer and curry sauce come up as pairings. Service draws repeated praise as friendly and fast, including a waiter who replaced a dropped plate without hesitation. Cost and portions divide opinion. Several accept the higher price for a central location, while one reviewer found the portions tiny and the haddock bland, and another said the breading was airy with less fish inside than expected. Two others called the cod tasteless despite the batter's texture. One also described a waiter coaxing passersby in from the outside menu and cramped seating on high chairs. Even a critical diner conceded that the curry sauce was a decent attempt to rescue the meal, and a happy one noted the air conditioning in the back room.
