About Golden House
Golden House is a Chinese takeaway and fish and chips shop at 108 Haydons Rd in London, serving both menus from one counter. The kitchen makes its own chips from fresh potatoes, and the fish and chips come in a classic style as well as a salt and pepper version. Salt and pepper chips and salt and pepper mini vegetable rolls sit on the Chinese side of the menu, alongside dishes with curry sauce or oyster sauce. A lunch box pairs fish and chips with a drink. The team will adjust menu items on request, such as taking chicken off the skewer or duck off the bone. The shop opens Tuesday to Sunday, stays open late, and closes on Mondays.

“Ordered 4 item. Kicking myself that I did not take a photo. 1) Salt & Pepper Mini Vegetable Rolls: Absolutely to awesome generous service of onion and spring onion. Sliced red chilly pepper, enough to get a little heat without totally numbing the mouth. 2) Sweet & Sour Pork Hong Kong Style: Nice think sauce. Very generous portion of all the vegetable and pineapple that go into the sauce. Pork nice and crispy on the outside and meat just melt in middle. The reason I love this place so much is that they are very accommodating to menu customisation. Working on the principle, the customer can have what they want, the way they want it, they just have to pay a little extra. 3) Chicken Satay - they are very happy to take chick off the skewers. This is where I am kicking myself and wish I had taken a photo the generosity of the chicken chunks absolutely blew me away, I mean they were big chunks of perfectly cooked chicken. 4) I like menu option 132 Roast Duck in Hoi Sin Sauce. I asked if the roast duck could be replaced with Quarter Crispy Duck taken off the bone. Yes I had to pay a little extra. But no hesitation in carry out my request. Like I say, if you want menu customisation, this is the place to order from.”

“My favorite local Chinese. The staff are lovely, service is quick, it's fairly priced with good portions, and everything I've tried here is DELICIOUS! Especially the curry sauce :) Would recommend!”

“So happy with my takeaway. The salt and pepper chips were really tasty, and finally I've found a Chinese with good vegetarian options.”

“So, know what, not a bad place! Well priced, open late so who can complain? Ordered here a few times and it’s just standard. But when you ordered the same meal many times and they cannot be bothered peel the stickers off the peppers that they have fried in my food it’s a bit disappointing”
