Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the staff, describing a server who brought a coffee to the table and turned down the music for someone with an urgent meeting, a lone barista described as super friendly, and others who looked after a family and a group of hotel guests. Coffee draws mixed reactions: cappuccinos and a flat white are called delicious or good, while one reviewer finds it hit and miss and an oat milk latte came out strong. The pecan tart, dacquoise and cheesecake are liked for taste, though the cheesecake was too soft, and a toasted ham and cheese croissant beat a bland ciabatta with an overpowering red sauce. Several call the shop pretty and aesthetic, but one finds it cold in temperature and atmosphere, and others note limited choice and high prices. One reviewer objected to a service fee added without being told the price, though another staff member then brought glasses and ice to the outdoor table.

“The coffee is very hit and miss here - sometimes great, sometimes not at all. The place itself is very cold, both in terms of temperature and atmosphere. They probably don't want people to linger.”

“A quiet refuge from the city’s commotion. Everything in the cafe is very aesthetic - the walls, the tables, the seats, the mugs and the coffee itself. The coffee is good, the cacao powder on top is a nice addition. Price is high, especially if you sit down.”

“This is a negative review but I need to prefix it by saying I’ve worked in the service industry for decades and I know customers are awful so I try my best to be a good one. However… My wife and I went in and took 2 cold drinks from the fridge and put them on the counter. A gentleman didn’t even acknowledge our existence but spent an age putting prices into the till. The amount wasn’t visible and he didn’t speak to us to tell us the price. I had to stand there awkwardly as I’m not just going to tap a contactless point to pay an unknown amount. Eventually it’s gets too weird and he hands me a receipt and asks if it’s ok. Well, no. It isn’t. There’s a £1.37 service fee on top of £9.50 drinks for literally nothing. We got our own drinks and we went to the counter where we weren’t even served with a ‘hello’. Literally no service was provided at any point. Clearly he was hoping people just tap their card and walk away and they get 13% unchallenged. I admit i was annoyed and said it’s a bit cheeky just adding service charges and not even telling customers before charging but I paid it anyway. He just turned his back on us. We went and sat outside with our bottled drinks and to be fair another staff member came out with glasses and ice so they did try to recover the situation and I’m grateful for that. I am far too northern to be vibing with the under-handed tactics used to literally take money from me for nothing initially though.”

“I feel like I step into a pink cloud and a beautiful instagram filter IRL whenever I come here for coffee and treats. The range of drinks is great, they’re willing to customise as you need them to and they’re always made with perfection”

“I had a great experience here and can’t recommend it enough. I was served by Aaron, he was absolutely wonderful, so kind, attentive, and genuinely looked after me and my family throughout our visit. The service was warm, professional, and made us feel very welcome. We’ll definitely be coming back the next time we’re in town!”
