About Be At One - Monument

Be At One - Monument is a cocktail bar in London on King William St, set over two floors, with an upstairs bar and a lower floor with sofas. A bartender leads cocktail masterclasses, and gin tasting sessions are also held at the venue, so a visit can involve learning how drinks are made as well as ordering them. The cocktail list includes a daiquiri and a strawberry caipirinha, and mocktails are on the menu too. Happy hour works as buy one get one free on drinks. Estrella Damm Spanish beer is served cold alongside the food menu. The bar also hosts private events, and on those days it closes to the public.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the bar staff, who recommend drinks to suit their tastes and are described as friendly, bubbly and energetic. A daiquiri and a strawberry caipirinha get specific praise, and the cocktail masterclass is called fun, competitive and engaging. A gin tasting for a networking group went well even after a booking mix up, with staff going above and beyond. Others mention flavourful happy hour drinks on a buy one get one free offer, mocktails, and a business lunch with good value food and a cold Estrella Damm, though one found the prawn presentation strange. Three reviewers report poor experiences. One was turned away in the afternoon because of a private event that the website did not mention, after door staff had earlier signalled only that the bar opened later. Another says a bartender snapped at them for asking twice about buying bottles of alcohol, so they left. A third was asked to leave before finishing a drink after complaining to a supervisor about guests at a private event.

“I arrived with 3 friends just after 2pm on Saturday 24th Oct. The door was locked and then a man came along outside and unlocked the door, went in and locked the door. We waved and asked if he was opening up and just put up 3 fingers indicating the bar will be opening at 3. We went to another bar then returned at around 4.30. The man on the door then told us we can’t come in because there was a private event. So, why was this not noted on your website, saving a wasted journey and the people on the door initially could have taken one minute to open the door and explain that the bar would be closed due to a private event that day. Poor customer service!”

“Visited at around 7pm yesterday I asked a female member of staff behind the bar if they sold bottles of alcohol. I didn’t hear her first response because it was noisy, so I politely asked again. She replied, “No, how many times do I have to tell you?” I explained that I had only asked again because I hadn’t heard her properly the first time, and then I left. The interaction made me feel disrespected and unwelcome. I had been planning to spend a fair amount of money there, but after being spoken to like that, I decided to leave instead. Good customer service costs nothing, and unfortunately this experience means I won’t be returning.”

“Shraya was a fantastic bartender and was really helpful when helping suggesting drinks for us. I had a lovely conversation with her. She made me experience fantastic. Would recommend coming here just to be served by her.”
