About McChina
McChina is a family-run Chinese restaurant on Haydons Rd in Wimbledon, London, built around a philosophy it calls mei sik. The menu includes Hong Kong style dishes, among them sweet and sour pork Hong Kong style. The kitchen cooks food fresh, so a wait is common when the restaurant is busy. A lunch deal pairs a main course with rice, a side and a drink, which makes it a set option for a midday meal. The owner greets and speaks with customers, and family members check on tables during service. McChina opens Tuesday to Sunday and is closed on Mondays.

Customer Review Summary
Fresh food is what most reviewers return for, with the crispy chilli beef, Singapore noodles and egg fried rice singled out, and a lunch deal featuring sweet and sour pork Hong Kong style described as good value. One diner from Hong Kong calls the cooking authentic. Close behind is the family-run welcome, with several describing a warm owner and relatives who check on tables. Waits are the most repeated complaint. Some link long dine-in and delivery waits to freshness, others find service slow, and one reports a requested takeaway box never arrived. A couple call it pricey, naming the seaweed and salt and chilli chips, and one wants more generous sauces with duck and pancakes. Two reviewers are sharply negative. One found the beef in a special chow mein tough and very oily. Another reports a wrong order for the second time, followed by a rude phone call that ended with the caller hung up on. Even so, long-term regulars note that the owner always takes time to speak with customers.

“I’ve been eating at this restaurant for 4 years plus the food is lovely and fresh but the best thing about this restaurant is the beautiful greeting you get from the owner she’s so warm welcoming and friendly, her sons and family members check on you to see if you’re ok and if the food was to your satisfaction. It was my son’s 5th anniversary on Saturday and she went out of her way to make the whole of my family 22+ feel so welcome. I have so much respect for them as a family run business and I will continue to eat there. A great time was had by all of my family, that’s what you call great customer service 5*”

“This is the second time they’ve gotten our order wrong. When we called to report it, the woman on the phone was extremely rude, spoke to us with a bad attitude, and then hung up on us mid conversation. I was really disappointed. The level of customer service was unacceptable, and due to the repeated mistakes and dismissive behaviour, we will not be ordering from them again.”

“McChina has been our local Chinese for a while and it rarely disappoints👌🏽. A family owned establishment, they take the quality of food and service seriously. The food is always extremely fresh, although this can make wait times a little longer especially when they are busy; however it’s worth the wait! They have such a wide range of options that are made very well. The cost is pricey compared to your local take away but popularity of this place, the fresh and well prepared food and great service staff prove its worth it, as they say you pay for what you get. Bonus: It’s great because it has seat in and take away options so caters to your current mood 😉. I love supporting a local family business and eating well 😁, definitely recommend a visit.”

“I had a special chow mein takeaway from McChina Wimbledon. Last time we had a takeaway from there was a year ago, but I'm afraid the quality has not improved. The beef was tough, the flavour just tasted like a mild Chinese 5spice - but also very oily! I could taste this on my lips for minutes afterwards. Not recommended at all I'm afraid!”

“My first visit here on Mothers day 2026 Came here with my daughter, son in law & granddaughter, the food is absolutely delicious I will definitely be back. Very busy, which is always a good sign. Service a bit slow, asked for a takeaways box which never arrived so had to ask again. I agree with another review the single chairs do need updating. Sunday 12/04/2026 Been back to this amazing tasty Chinese restaurant for the lunch time deal Absolutely delicious, would highly recommend coming here if you haven’t been before.”

“McChina Eating is a family run restaurant in Wimbledon defined by our main philosophy mei sik. Translated literally this means beautiful eats and bearing in mind the axiom you are what you eat, the choice of ingredients, preparation and presentation are equally important to us.”
