About M&S Café
M&S Café is a cafe in London inside the Marks & Spencer store at Westfield Stratford, on the top floor, with Montfichet Rd as its street. It has served customers since 1935 and is open daily. Breakfast centres on poached eggs on toast and avocado smash on toast, and the drinks list runs from coffee and tea to matcha drinks. Cakes and buns, both savory and sweet, sit alongside toasties, wraps and sandwiches for a lighter stop. A second cafe operates on the floor below. The top-floor space looks out to the front of the shopping centre.

What reviewers say

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split on the avocado toast, the dish they raise most. One praises it for generous avocado and a surprise of salmon, while another calls the avocado packet-sourced and says the dishes seemed prepped hours ahead rather than made to order. Close behind is the cooked breakfast of poached eggs, bacon, beans and sourdough toast, with the coffee called good, though one reviewer found a flat white and poached eggs terrible. A pecan bun is called sweeter and superior to the savory one a staff member suggested. Several note the café's spaciousness, bright view and friendly, fast service, and one mentions kids eating free during a half term special. Service varies by floor, with one reviewer describing appalling service on the lower floor and pleasant staff upstairs. Cleanliness draws a serious complaint, as one reviewer reports filthy tables and floors and toilets in a poor state, while another calls the café very clean. One reviewer recalls a worker crouching at their table asking whether they were eating M&S food.

“I remember 10 years ago, having a really bizarre experience of a worker who came to squat in front of our table going "is this m&s food?" 'is this m&s food?" We weren't really doing much or disturbing anyone else, nor was it busy at the time. There were people with other food and beverages(bubble tea) but he didn't go harassing them. We weren't having a feast at the tables either, so I'm confused by what the whole problem was about really.”

“Ordered due to our love for M & S and came back utterly disappointed. Every element is not up to standard. Please improve❤️”

“Excellent cold foods available at this location. I choice a savory bun to eat with it. I believe I would have preferred the one with pecans, as I found it to be superior. A representative from Marks and Spencer suggested it. I am pleased that I gave it a try; the top was delightful, although the pecan version is notably sweeter.”

“£9.10 for the pleasure of having this terrible flat white and poached eggs on toast. Tables, seats and the floors are all filthy I was there for over an hour but didn’t see any staff member actually clean anything. The scene was set by the horrifying state of the toilets just outside the cafe - I’m starting to wonder if there is actually a cleaning strike going on here.”

“We came here after seeing the great food photos in older review posts, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. The dishes we ordered were nothing like the descriptions or photos—everything seemed to have been prepped hours in advance rather than made to order. The avocado was clearly from a packet and not worth eating. I was so let down that I didn’t even finish what I ordered. The Matcha drinks also didn’t match their descriptions. If you do visit, I’d stick to basic items like coffee, tea, and cakes. Based on this experience, I can’t recommend the avocado dishes or anything that isn’t freshly prepared.”
