About Mae + Harvey
Mae + Harvey is a cafe in London, on Roman Rd at number 414-416, open daily and daytime only. The menu centres on a chicken "sarnie" and pancakes, which come with toppings like berry compote, clotted cream and toasted hazelnuts. Corn fritters with egg sit on the savoury side for anyone who wants something other than a sandwich. Coffee and strawberry matcha are on the drinks list. The cafe takes no bookings, and a queue outside or a wait for a table is common at weekends. The kitchen keeps the menu small and updates it regularly.

Customer Review Summary
The chicken sandwich is the draw reviewers raise most, with several calling it the best they have eaten and one ordering two to go on a work-from-home day. Pancakes come close behind, described as light and fluffy, with berry compote, clotted cream and toasted hazelnuts in one account and basil cream with macerated strawberries in another. Corn fritters with egg, garlic eggs on sourdough, fennel sausage patties, strawberry matcha and a croissant also earn praise, as does a kombucha one reviewer says only this cafe has. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and warm, and one family notes they accommodated allergies and made room for a stroller. The recurring drawback is the queue. With no bookings, one party had a long Saturday wait for a table of four, and the staff, though lovely, were flustered and forgot a dish. Others call the queue worth it, and one regrets the early closing. One reviewer returned for the chicken sandwich on the morning they left the city.

“I just wanted to share my review of this lovely place Mae + Harvey! Very polite, attentive, and friendly staff. Charlotte is such a funny and lovely girl (and her colleague with the tattoos, I don’t know her name, is also really nice!). They’re the only place that has Mother and Sun Kombucha — highly recommend it! P.S. It’s a shame they close so early.”

“The best chicken sandwich of my life, honestly so good. Strawberry matcha was delicious, pancakes were fluffy and had a touch of basil in the cream which went wonderfully with macerated strawberries. We did have to wait 45mins for a table of 4 on a Saturday morning as they don't take bookings, and the staff (though lovely) were a little flustered and forgot one of our dishes, but all in all a really nice place!”

“We love this place! The food is always excellent, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are genuinely lovely. They’re always friendly and helpful, going out of their way to accommodate allergies and make room for our stroller. This has become a regular spot for us, and while there’s often a small queue for a table, it’s well worth the wait. A great local restaurant that we keep coming back to!”

“Such a gem of a place! We got here around 11 on a Saturday and luckily didn't have to wait long to be seated, but this place does get busy and there was a queue outside by the time we left. I can see why though! The menu is small but amazing. I got the garlic eggs with sourdough toast while my husband got the chicken sarnie. Pretty big portions and everything was delicious and tasted fresh. Later in the week on a WFH day we got 2 chicken sarnies to go, if I'm back in the area I'd come back here in a heartbeat!”

“Great coffee shop! The cappuccino was delicious and the croissant was great. The food looks quite good as well but i did not order any. Nothing over the top but a great cafe with even better service.”
