Goat Tavern Mayfair
Quick info
About Goat Tavern Mayfair
A goat statue stands inside Goat Tavern Mayfair, a dark-wood pub on Stafford St in London's Mayfair, where an upstairs area gives drinkers a second space above the downstairs bar. This Greene King house pours pints including IPA and Guinness 0%, and the kitchen runs to 48 dishes across a traditional British range. Fish and chips is a recurring order, with King Prawns & Chorizo and Salt & Pepper Squid among the smaller plates, and a steak sandwich, mac 'n' cheese and a vegetarian chilli also on offer. Butternut squash soup comes in standard and vegan versions. The pub is small, and bar staff bring orders to the table. Dogs are welcome alongside their owners, and the doors open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips is what diners return to most, described as delicious with a portion size one reviewer called perfect, and named again by visitors who made it their last meal in London. Close behind is the staff, repeatedly called friendly and welcoming without any rehearsed feel, including one Saturday when a single barman ran the entire room, serving a dozen people while wiping down tables and staying chatty throughout. Other plates drawn out by name include the mac and cheese, judged not too heavy, a steak sandwich that hit the spot, and a vegetarian chilli. Drinkers mention a reasonable beer selection, a pint of IPA, and a Guinness 0% poured exactly right. Several describe the pub as small and cosy, tucked away from the shopping crowds, with a goat statue and dark, old-school character, and one notes popping upstairs for a work call while calling downstairs the place to be. The one grumble comes from a diner who found the chips a little dry inside and the sauce too acidic.

“Tucked just off the bustle of Berkeley Square, The Goat Tavern feels like one of those proper London spots you almost want to keep to yourself. I popped in on a grey afternoon and, honestly, it was just the ticket — that classic Greene King charm, a bit of old-school character with the cheeky goat statue watching over you. It’s got that cosy, slightly hidden vibe that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something a bit special rather than just another pub. Inside, it’s warm and lively without being over the top — proper London energy, people chatting away, a few pints flowing, nothing forced. I grabbed a drink upstairs and settled in, and it felt easy, like you could happily lose a couple of hours without noticing. The place has history in the walls, but it’s still very much alive — not stuck in the past, just doing things right. What really stood out though was the staff — absolutely lovely bunch. Friendly, quick with a smile, and genuinely welcoming without any of that rehearsed feel. You can tell they care about the place and the people coming in. All in all, a solid little gem in Mayfair — I’ll definitely be back for another cheeky pint.”
