About Prince of Wales
Prince of Wales is a corner pub in Covent Garden, London, at 150-151 Drury Ln, in the theatre district close to the Garrick Theatre. It opens daily and shows all live sports across Sky and TNT Sports, with TVs carrying football matches and the upstairs kept quieter. A function room is available for hire, so the pub can host events and celebrations. The food follows a classic British pub menu, with fish and chips served with peas, a Cheese & Bacon Burger and a Katsu Chicken Burger. Guests choose from the menu and order at the bar, and the food is brought to the table. A weekday lunch is offered, and the kitchen closes after last call rather than running all day. Drinkers can walk in without a reservation.

Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips draws the most comment, with one diner praising a proper layer of batter that was not soggy and great peas, while another found the peas frozen and dry and the chips too few for the large plate. Close behind, reviewers describe a loud, cheerful pub, popular for watching Arsenal matches and for a drink before a theatre show, with an upstairs one reviewer found quieter. Others mention the Katsu Chicken Burger, a weekday lunch described as good value, and a clean interior. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming. The main complaint is cost. One reviewer says three standard draught pints came to far more than at nearby pubs and the ale was not topped to the rim, while another calls the pours good but the prices full London. The same diner says the crowd is hard to talk over even when half full. One diner who found onion in several mains had the Cheese & Bacon Burger remade with buttermilk chicken.

“Prince of wales John was the best customer service I’ve experienced. I came all the way from the U.S. and I’ve never seen anyone be more welcoming. It’s only our second day here and it feels like I can be welcomed anywhere. Thank you John and we will 100% be back.”

“It's got air conditioning! Nowadays that has a lot to be said for it. We didn't eat but the drinks were good and the staff delightful. Convenient for a drink before seeing a performance at the Garrick theatre. Recommended.”

“I’m having their weekday lunch, it’s so value! Also it’s very clean in here and the staffs are nice with patient (not sticky table for sure). Would absolutely come back for more lunches 😍👍”

“Brilliant pub to watch the most recent England game in - especially upstairs where it was quieter. Very good atmosphere and the architecture of the pub itself is brilliant. However, I was surprised when my bill for three draught pints (two lagers, one ale - all generic pints, nothing fancy) came to £25.60 - which makes it around £8.50 per pint, unless the barman made a mistake and I was overcharged, but I think that’d be unlikely. I understand this is London and costs are increasing across the board for the pub trade, but these are without doubt the most expensive pints that I have had thus far in the years I have lived in London (and in my life in general!). Given the extremely high price, my pint of ale wasn’t even topped up to reach the rim of the glass, as is routinely the case in other pubs, which was slightly disappointing. Whether prices were increased due to the football, who knows. However with the significantly cheaper alternative pubs in the local area, both independent pubs and chain pubs, a price review by the upper management of the Prince of Wales may be prudent. Unless I want to drain my wallet at speed, I will not be returning in a hurry, despite the brilliant architecture & atmosphere.”

“£18.45 for the fish & chips. Now to preface this, I did get there for last-call of the kitchen. I can't tell if the quality is better when they're running at full-steam. Fish itself ain't bad, a proper layer of batter, but not puffy at all. (NOT SOGGY! I'll give it that!) Overall liked it! Sad, frozen, dry peas (I wasn't expecting fresh mushy peas, but lad, that was filler.) Chips were good chips, but ya get few of 'em, with the plate that big making it feel like they skimped on ya. Pints are good pours mind ya, even though they're full London prices. Lovely atmosphere, but JAYSUS lads, the crowds here are loud for how many peeps are here. Barely half full and I can't hear myself think!”
