Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to a cozy, chill atmosphere, with several describing a quiet place to hang out at night or enjoy a cup of coffee, and one calling the coffee rich, aromatic and freshly brewed. Close behind is the staff, called friendly, helpful and smiling, with a family birthday group saying the team could not do enough for them. Food gets a lukewarm response. Dishes are called ok or alright, and one diner found the macaroni cheese plain and served bare from a very small menu, while another says the beer and food are good once served. The service complaints are specific. One reviewer describes slow bar staff who are reluctant to clear tables, and another describes being left unacknowledged in line after a customer's card repeatedly failed and someone cut ahead. A third found the bar out of Prosecco and Martini. One reviewer reports finding hair in a small brownie, and another calls the coffee expensive for machine espresso.

“Our handbag was stolen while we were dining at Old Queen Street Cafe. It contained passports, phones, bank cards, cash and other important belongings. The police attended the restaurant, but did not personally review the CCTV and appeared to rely only on a member of staff saying that the people involved could not be seen clearly. There were fewer than ten customers in the restaurant at the time. We were extremely disappointed with the way the incident was handled by both the restaurant and the police. This experience also makes us concerned that similar incidents may not be uncommon in such a busy tourist area. We hope the restaurant preserves the full CCTV footage and cooperates fully with the police investigation. Visitors should take particular care of handbags, passports and other personal belongings, even while seated inside the restaurant.”

“Ate here after a long day rather than head out for food. Very very small menu - not even the option of a side with your meal like a bread roll, garlic bread, fries, a salad.... Macaroni cheese tasted OK but was slapped down on the table with a spoon to eat it and not a smidgen of colour, greenery, presentation, garnish - anything at all. Zero care, zero effort. I stay at the Premier Inn regularly for work, but I'll just go out next time. A Tesco meal deal has more appeal!”

“Found hair in the brownie and it costed me 5.99£. The cake itself was just the size of two matchboxes. Not the happiest employees either. Otherwise a cozy place”

“Such a wonderful cafe! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with tasteful decor and just the right background music to relax. The coffee is outstanding rich, aromatic, and freshly brewed. The staff are friendly and always smiling, which makes the experience even better. I truly recommend it, whether you’re stopping by for a morning coffee break or enjoying a laid-back chat with friends. Definitely coming back”
