Customer Review Summary

Sunday roast is the most discussed meal and it divides reviewers. Praise goes to the beef Wellington, the Bloody Mary, and a chicken and leek pie of the month, with others calling the food delicious and the staff pleasant and quick. One family also credits the staff and the wheelchair access. Complaints centre on service. Several describe long waits, a server ignored when asking for the bill, and a counter of staff looking on without helping. The chicken sandwich is called a letdown twice, with burnt bread and no sauce, and one reviewer says the manager told them to just leave a review. Roast problems include a stale Yorkshire pudding, chewy beef with large pieces of fat, and cold gravy. One reviewer reports sending the gravy back three times and says the waitress put her finger in it to check the temperature, and reports feeling sick afterward. Reviewers who came for drinks call the beer fantastic and the bar staff great.

“I came for Sunday lunch July 26th with my partner as it was also a birthday celebration Service was non-existent, and I had to find a waitress to order, until she yelled at me “sit down and I’ll come to you”. We got our roast dinners and they were cold, and the gravy was cold. I asked three times to make the gravy warm and three times it was brought back the same cold. The waitress was super annoyed with us and tutted at me, said I was wrong and she, and I quote “put her finger in the gravy to check” Absolutely foul and disgusting… I felt sick after eating here and advise anyone against coming here. The food wasn’t so bad but the service was horrific and passive aggressive. Why on earth is a waitress touching the food? And checking by “putting her fingers in to check the temperature” I didn’t expect such poor service so I decided to leave a review What a disgrace. I hope management read this and take action fast”

“I am extremely disappointed with the quality and service at Conrad hotels. We arrived for lunch around 2:45 PM, and the service was incredibly slow. Despite waving and waiting, our food took an excessive amount of time to arrive, and the staff’s attitude was quite poor. The fish and chips were decent but overpriced at 28 pounds. However, the chicken sandwich was a major letdown; the bread was burnt, overshadowing any proper grilling flavor.”

“Great place for drinking! Great bar staff and very intuitive. Food is terrible, had chicken sandwich which was recommended and it was awful. Tonne of bread with deep fried flesh and random vegetables with no sauce. Idea is great, execution is very poor . Tried to explain my concern to the manager he didn’t care said just leave your review. So here it is ! Guest recovery 0% guest satisfaction 0% nice place for drink do not eat there !”

“We just went for some drinks. They place is really classy from the inside. Sadly the service was atrocious. We had to wait for the staff several times up to 20 minutes. When we were done and wanted the bill, nobody showed up at all. I asked a passing waiter several times, but he just ignored me. Now comes the best part. The counter were you get greeted and shown to your table had 2-3 People in it the whole time. Looking right at us from 3 feet away. Pub was great, beer was fantastic, staff sadly not.”

“Disappointed…… My Sunday roast was not at all what I was hoping for. > Generous serving of beef, but was “chewy”, with large pieces of fat attached, but the beef gravy was good > Yorkshire pudding was stale and inedible > Roasted veg was very good (potatoes, carrots, parsnips, broccoli rabe, onion) > Don’t ask for HP Sauce, they don’t have it. The server acted like he had never heard of it before > My dessert, sticky toffee pudding, was just OK. Not much flavor, “grainy” texture and a very small serving of ice cream Service was not good. Dirty dinner plates were left on the table far too long. We actually had a physically search for a server to get dessert ordered.”
