About Molyneux’s Coffee Shop
A rotating selection of homemade cakes gives Molyneux's Coffee Shop, a cafe on Booker Ave in Liverpool, a counter that changes as new varieties are added, with a Bakewell tart and a vegan lemon cake among the options. The kitchen also runs cooked breakfasts, including a full English, alongside bacon sandwiches and pancakes served with syrup and bacon or with strawberries. Coffee, cappuccinos and pots of tea round out the drinks. Food and drink come to the table, with toast buttered and jam or marmalade brought alongside. There is no booking, so seating works on a walk-in basis, and tables are set both indoors and outside for anyone who prefers to eat in the open air. A step-free entrance keeps the room reachable for visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs suit families with young children. Dogs are welcome. The cafe trades during the day from Monday to Saturday, closing on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Homemade cake is what reviewers raise most, with the Bakewell tart and the vegan lemon cake singled out as moist and delicious, and one diner taking a slice away. Close behind are the coffee, which several call delicious or always spot on, and breakfast dishes such as the full English, pancakes with strawberries or syrup and bacon, and a bacon sarnie. Many describe the staff as friendly and the atmosphere as welcoming, like a home from home, and one weekly ladies group keeps returning for the cakes. Outdoor seating in the sun gets a mention at breakfast. The main complaint is from one reviewer who found the two large cappuccinos had no froth and was disappointed, after tea cakes had run out and they settled for toast with marmalade and jam. That reviewer still called the staff very friendly. One diner also says to check the breakfast times on the menu, having nearly missed a proper breakfast, and the toast arrives already buttered.

“Arrived around 11.00. Plenty of seats you can also sit outside. Asked for tea cakes unfortunately non left so we had toast and marmalade and toast and jam. They butter your toast before they bring it to you, and give you the marmalade and jam. Had 2 large cappuccino, coffee was nice but no froth on either cup which was disappointing. The staff were very friendly and there was a nice atmosphere. Only gave 3 stars as was only toast, was disappointed with the coffee. We also had a bakewell tart which was OK.”

“Bit confused as to why it says it's closed, I had breakfast here a couple of weeks ago. As ever the service was excellent, the food was perfectly cooked and quick to arrive and the cake I took away was just to die for. Highly recommend going here, but pay attention to the times on the menu...I very narrowly avoided missing out on a proper breakfast because I didn't check the times properly!”

“Enjoyed a lovely breakfast sat outside in the sun, served by the lovely Kath! An amazing full English and pancakes with syrup and bacon, couple with great coffee. A gem of a place 🤩”
