About The Breakfast Lounge
Breakfast runs all day at The Breakfast Lounge, a café on Broad Green Rd in Liverpool, where the plates range from a small or large fry to American and vegetarian versions. The menu carries on well past breakfast into lunch and light bites, and it takes an unusual turn with a run of chicken zinger dishes, including a chicken zinger pasta and a zinger wrap that give midday visitors something beyond the standard café list. Coffee gets equal attention, alongside hot and cold drinks, several brands of tea, and oat and soy milk for anyone avoiding dairy. The team cooks and serves, and adjusts the standard breakfast or offers substitutes for particular dietary requirements. A large seating area holds plenty of inside tables, and a step-free entrance keeps the room reachable for visitors with mobility needs. Tables are walk-in rather than booked, and the kitchen works daytime hours from Monday to Saturday, closing on Sundays. A club sandwich and carrot and lentil soup sit on the lunch side.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the breakfast, with the Large Breakfast named as the star for its fresh produce, alongside the vegetarian, small, American and salmon and eggs plates. Fresh bread baked on the premises and served with jalapeño butter gets its own mention, and one reviewer praises sourdough toast with Yorkshire tea. Close behind is the friendly welcome, with several crediting the two men running the place for doing the cooking and serving and going out of their way, including adjusting a standard breakfast for dietary needs. Beyond breakfast, diners name the chicken zinger wrap with tots, the club sandwich dipped in carrot and lentil soup, chicken zinger pasta and the pancakes. Coffee draws praise too, including a hazelnut cappuccino with pistachio sauce, and dogs are welcome. The one practical snag comes from a reviewer who says the cafe is cash only, while another notes every inside table was full. One reviewer closes by saying the only downside was the two hour drive home on a full belly.

“Tried The Breakfast Lounge in Old Swan today with my brother-in-law and came away really impressed. There’s plenty of seating, a genuinely warm welcome when you arrive, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to stay a while. The menu is compact but has loads of choice, covering breakfast, lunch and light bites, with a great selection of hot and cold drinks too. The star of the show for us was the Large Breakfast. The quality of the produce really stood out. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted fresh. A lovely extra touch was the fresh bread, baked on the premises, served with jalapeño butter, which was absolutely delicious and something a bit different. It’s clear they take pride in what they serve. Definitely somewhere we will be returning to. 10.5 out of 10 ( the owner knows why 😉😂)”

“10 out of 10 food absolutely spot on. Chicken zinger wrap with Tata tots. Generous portion sizes and well presented. Loads of inside tables but was all full, a statement for how good the food is. 2 very friendly lads running it had a good chat with them. Cash only and a very extensive menu there’s far more than breakfasts. Will not be disappointed.”

“Some of the best cafe food I’ve ever eaten. Great service, great seating area, incredible food. The pancakes are EPIC! Nice coffee. The only bad thing is that I now have to drive home for two hours with a full belly.”
