  “Great food and our server was lovely, only a young lad too but very friendly and helpful. Have been here countless times as I stay in Linslade. HOWEVER, I had family visiting from Scotland with a lot of Scottish notes and when we tried to pay we were told they are not accepted. This was both frustrating and disappointing as cash was really all we had. We spoke with The manager Christian (I think his name was apologies if wrong!) and he was very nice also but said it was a decision from above. I explained we couldn’t pay with card, it was £170 including a good tip and we had it majority in Scottish notes, some English and £15 on card. It ended with them accepting it and taking my number as a reassurance and contact if any fake notes were to be found. I understand there have been a lot of fake Scottish notes but my family having a business in Scotland and generally living and spending money there, what do you think they do with ALL their Scottish money?! It left a slightly sour taste in my mouth to be honest as we had had a great time and the food was delicious, staff were also all lovely as I’d said before. If this is going to be ongoing I suggest you make it clear to customers before ordering that this is the case. Or perhaps accept the notes and get better fake detection items. One other point, the bluebottles were horrendous when eating so maybe some fly traps or deterrents would be good outside.”

  “The décor was fun and parking was convenient. Unfortunately, there were a few issues with cleanliness and presentation. Some of the plastic flowers on the table had melted and turned brown from the tea lights, and my seat still had food on it when I went to sit down. The whole pub also smelled strongly of cabbage, likely because the carvery was on. The afternoon tea itself was very generous in portion size. However, some of the sandwiches had gone slightly crisp around the edges, suggesting they may have been left out for a while, and two sandwich flavours listed on the menu were not served. The dessert stand was also plentiful, although much of it appeared to be shop-bought. The scone was served warm but had clearly been toasted, making it harder and drier than you would expect. The chocolate chip brioche bun had also been heated or toasted and was quite dry. The cheesecake — we think it was lemon — came in huge slices, but had a shiny, wobbly texture more like blancmange than cheesecake. The “Eton Mess” was not really an Eton Mess at all; it seemed to be meringue mixed with strawberry Angel Delight, frozen into a dome over ice cream. On a positive note, the service was friendly and attentive throughout.”

  “Wow.... What a place... Food is on point and after trying every pub in leighton buzzard id say by far The Ship has the best food....by a mile. Staff are on point i had a lovely friendly lady who literally was one of the warmest and best waitresses ive ever had. I cannot reccomend this place enough for a meal with the family 10/10. Defo coming back for a go on theor carvery as that looked amazing as well... Great pub. Great people. Great food... What more can you ask for...”

  “A gem of a local with friendly and welcoming staff and a great maritime theme throughout - thoughtful and interesting decor with so much to look at. We came for the Sunday carvery which was exceptional value for money and excellent quality. Fresh colourful vegetables, flavour-packed meats (5 to choose from - I went for the beef and pork belly - incredible!) and my sis had a delicious individual vegetarian wellington, cooked to order. Carveries can very hit and miss but you will not be disappointed eating here 👌”

  “I had my baby shower here yesterday It was the most perfect day I could’ve asked for Christian went above and beyond to make it special! The decor was fab, the food was stunning! There was so much of it we ended up bringing it home. So accommodating really can’t thank you enough. We will be hosting events here in the future- thank you all so much 🤍”
