About Blends Coffee Bar
Blends Coffee Bar, a Muslim-owned and family-run café in Leicester, sets a halal Indian/desi breakfast beside a full English on Downing Drive, so anyone who needs halal food gets a full morning menu either way. Service runs from breakfast through to lunch, when the kitchen turns to lighter plates such as jacket potatoes. Coffee holds a steady place on the drinks side, with a Spanish latte and a hot chai among the options, and a glass case at the counter keeps pastries and baked goods. Tables are not booked, so guests walk in and order, and food comes out to the table with condiments. Seating outdoors suits anyone who would rather eat in the open air, and high chairs make room for families with young children. The café opens Monday to Saturday and closes on Sundays. Free street parking and off-street spaces make arriving by car straightforward.

Customer Review Summary
The Indian breakfast, also called a desi breakfast, is what several reviewers order, and they describe a great portion size in a quiet, chilled room with friendly staff. A full English breakfast is called nice but not wowing. A Spanish latte with a chocolate cookie, hot chai, a jacket potato and the milkshakes also draw praise. Lunch items get a harsher reception. One reviewer found the chicken fillet burger salty and not fresh, with baguette orders arriving in hot dog rolls. Another found the steak pastry dry and reports stomach pains afterward. Pricing is a recurring sore point. Breakfast is called a little high, and one diner says a virgin mojito rang up higher than the sign and arrived as lemonade in a plastic cup with a mint leaf, with no refund offered. Others wanted the chicken roll and loaded fries served hotter, and service is described as slower. When a hair turned up in one diner's food, the team happily replaced it.

“It's a shame as it's right next to my new gym so thought I'd come here often. The price was 25% more for what was a low quality drink. The sign said it was £4, when I tapped the card it said £5. He didn't offer a refund or explain why. I wouldn't have paid £5 for this. What arrived was a £1 plastic cup of lemonade and a mint leaf. Not a real virgin mojito. But at least if the menu price had been the real price I would have taken it as a lesson learned instead of feeling a bit hoodwinked.”

“Brilliant meal and very good staff. Visit regularly and they always very accommodating. The service is generally slower but they take pride is what they serve. Visit on. Sunday which is their quieter days maybe that’s what causes the delay. Small issues were resolved swiftly by the team so happy faces all round.”

“WoW where do I start nice outside and ditto on the inside very clean and moden. Upon entering the member of staff was polite and helpful. I ordered my food and drink and this was bought out to my table with a good selection of condiments, The food was good size and full of taste and the cuppa wasn't a cheap make was a good cuppa. The prices was fare (really cheap in moden day) Overall very happy with this place give it a try they do breakfasts to lunch. Update its still great”

“It’s a lovely quaint coffee shop, offering light meals and coffee drinks as well as a small range of baked goods. The store is Muslim owned and is halal. I enjoyed a Spanish latte with a chocolate cookie 🍪. I will definitely be back again .”

“I came here on a weekend for Brunch. I decided to try this place with the thought of trying out something new as opposed to the regular brunch places we frequent in Leicester. We found free street parking and the cafe was quiet. We ordered and the food came in a timely manner. The chicken roll was filling and had a great taste. I'd had liked it heated a bit more. The loaded fries were of a good portion! Lots of sauces, cheese etc. Again, would've been much better if it was a little hotter. Seating is reasonable, place is clean and neat and service us good.”
