About Rudy's Pizza Napoletana - Chapel Allerton

On Stainbeck Lane in Chapel Allerton, Rudy's Pizza Napoletana is a wood fired pizza restaurant where the dough is made on-site daily, double fermented for 24 hours and cooked in just 60 seconds. The menu runs from Margherita con bufala to Triple Pepperoni and Romagnola, with a Garlic Aioli Dip on the side and tiramisu to finish. Meat substitutions are allowed, though toppings cannot be split across half a pizza. Tables can be booked by phone or through the website, and dogs are welcome in the restaurant. The room can get crowded and noisy at busier times, and mains have taken a while to arrive on some visits. Pizzas ordered for takeaway come out differently from the version served at the table.

Customer Review Summary

The Triple Pepperoni pizza draws the most repeated praise, called out by several reviewers as a highlight alongside the wood fired base, with one describing it as among the best they've had and suggesting a drizzle of chilli oil, and another recommending the Tiramisu and the Garlic Aioli Dip. Several reviewers also single out individual servers by name for warmth and attentiveness, describing one who reassured a walk-in group and checked ingredients for a dietary requirement, and another who made a lunch visit feel comfortable. Against this, a recurring complaint centers on inconsistent front-of-house treatment: multiple reviewers describe slow service, a rude waiter who wouldn't adapt a topping request, and a phone booking that turned out never to have been logged despite a manager confirming it. One diner reports a Margherita con bufala arriving undercooked and "swimming in liquid," calling it inedible. A few also note overcrowding and noise, or a base that wasn't as crispy as usual on one visit.

“I went for lunch a few days ago using my Royal Mail postcard offer. Our waitress Jess was so lovely and made the whole experience feel comfortable and easy from the minute we walked in. I went a few weeks ago and the manager’s attitude was so rude that I chose not to stay so I was so glad that Jess was the complete opposite. She’s the reason I’d come back.”

“Decided to write a review after I read another one that was very similar to my experience and it needs to be addressed. Someone else posted recently saying that a member of staff was very unpleasant towards them but seemed to pick and choose who she was being nice to. The same thing happened to me but over the phone. I called to book a table because the website was not showing their next available slot which was confusing. The manager picked up and I explained I was confused over the phone but wanted to book a table and the woman quite rudely kept saying she didn’t understand what I meant by “the website isn’t showing me the next available slot”. I just wanted to book a table, but she decided to focus more on what I meant about the website than taking my request to book. She then eventually gave me a time slot but completely ignored me for probably a good 15 seconds when I was checking with her that I heard her right? I had to ask “hello” at least 3 times before she answered. I passed the phone to my partner for him to give his phone number for the booking and all of a sudden she was all friendly and upbeat again and the booking was made. Something came up which meant we couldn’t go to the restaurant so we called to cancel. Someone else picked up and turns out, there wasn’t even a booking to be found! It’s lucky we found out this way because I can’t imagine if after all that rudeness, we had turned up to the restaurant only to be told they hadn’t even booked us in!”

“We've gone to Rudys multiple times and the pizzas are always amazing. It's a shame that every time we go to the Chapel Allerton one service is always terrible. We went there Sunday 16th of August and service was super slow, waiter was rude when taking the order and not accommodating to dietary requirements. Please someone explain how is it possible to replace a meat with something else but is not possible to have the meat on half the pizza? Got the wine order wrong, long wait time on mains to come, hard to get attention of waiters If you like Rudy's avoid this one it will ruin the great pizza they have”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Service from Nailia at Rudy’s Pizza Chapel Allerton I’ve visited Rudy’s Pizza Chapel Allerton several times, but my most recent experience was genuinely outstanding, and a huge part of that was thanks to Nailia. Last Saturday evening, our group of six arrived without a booking during one of the busiest periods. The restaurant was buzzing, tables were turning over quickly, and there was a queue at the door. Despite the pressure, Nailia greeted us with a warm smile, reassured us that she’d do her best to accommodate us, and kept us updated throughout the short wait. What really impressed me was her attention to detail. One member of our group has dietary requirements, and Nailia took the time to carefully explain the menu, double-check ingredients with the kitchen, and offer recommendations so they could enjoy the meal with complete confidence. It’s rare to see that level of care when a restaurant is so busy. The service didn’t stop there. During the meal, she managed to strike the perfect balance between being attentive and giving us space to enjoy our evening. Drinks were topped up promptly, food arrived efficiently, and she checked in at exactly the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. There was one particular moment that stood out. One of our pizzas was accidentally delayed during a particularly hectic rush. Before we even had the chance to mention it, Nailia had already noticed, spoken with the kitchen, and kept us informed. Her proactive approach turned what could have been a negative experience into an example of excellent customer service. The food was fantastic, as always, but it was Nailia’s professionalism, positivity, and genuine care for customers that made the evening memorable. Staff members like her are the reason people return to restaurants and recommend them to friends and family. Rudy’s should be incredibly proud to have someone like Nailia representing their business. She is a credit to the team, and her dedication to delivering exceptional customer service deserves recognition. We’ll definitely be returning, and it’s employees like Nailia who make Rudy’s Pizza Chapel Allerton stand out from the crowd”

“We have visited a few Rudy’s restaurants in different locations and this one was a pure disappointment. The service was really slow, it was overcrowded which made the noise level overwhelming. Me and my Wife ordered a Margherita con bufala pizza they were both undercooked and swimming in liquid which made both pizza’s inedible. It’s safe to say that we will not be returning.”

Highlights

“For us, it’s all about the pizza. Just like in Naples, our dough is made on-site every day, takes 24 hours to double ferment and just 60 seconds to cook. It is soft, light and floppy… so fold for strength or tuck in with a knife and fork. Enjoy.”
