About The Station
The Station is a fish and chips takeaway on Station Rd in Larne, at number 43. Battered fish and chips form the core of the menu, and the Christmas chip adds turkey, gravy and cocktail sausages on top, for anyone wanting something beyond the usual order. Curry sauce is available in a fruity version, and the battered sausage supper gives another choice for those skipping the fish. A family runs the business.

Customer Review Summary
The complaints are more specific. The Christmas chip drew two disappointed reviews: one found one tray without cocktail sausages, hardly any turkey and thin gravy, while another drove half an hour only to find it unavailable and a long wait. One reviewer called a battered sausage supper a child-sized portion. Another says the shop keeps people waiting at a locked door until opening time. The most detailed complaint describes a pastie with a single chip inside, rock-hard chips and burnt fish, after which staff refused a replacement and offered only half the money back.

“I have been a customer of Station Road Chippy for 40 years and have left positive reviews in the past, but after the appalling experience my brother and I had recently, I will never go back. My brother is 80 and has Parkinson’s disease, and I am disabled, housebound, and only manage to get out once a week at most. My brother brought me out for a fish supper for his birthday. Because of my mobility issues, I couldn't get into the shop without my wheelchair, so my brother went in to order. He ordered a pastie for himself—asking for something soft as he has difficulty eating—and a fish supper for me. The bill came to £18. When the food arrived at the car, it was completely inedible. The pastie was awful and inexplicably contained a single chip inside. My fish supper was just as bad: the chips were rock-hard like bullets, the fish was burnt to a crisp at both ends, and the batter had fallen apart with hardly any fish inside. My brother took the food straight back inside to return it, but the woman working at the counter refused to replace it or give a refund. When he came back out empty-handed, I asked him to go back in and request that she come out to speak to me at the car, as I couldn't walk inside. When the staff member (a woman in her 50s/60s with dark curly hair) came out to the car, there was zero empathy or basic customer care. Instead of listening, she was dismissive and cheeky. She made excuses, claiming my brother "just didn't like the batter," completely ignoring that the food was burnt and rock-hard. When I explained that it was my brother's 80th birthday and that we are both disabled, it didn't phase her at all. She then offered half the money back, which made no sense given that neither of us could eat the food and the entire order had been returned. When I asked her to bring the food back out so I could show her the state of it, she made a sarcastic comment asking if I didn't believe her. When I opened the box to point out the burnt fish and hard chips, she simply said she had "no time for this," complained that she was getting wet in the rain, and walked away while I was mid-sentence. We ended up throwing the entire £18 meal into the bin. What should have been a nice birthday outing turned into a stressful, upsetting experience. To treat two elderly, disabled customers with such hostility and disrespect—especially people who have supported this business for four decades—is beyond disgraceful. I have photos of the terrible condition of the food, and I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on.”

“Drove half an hour to larne to get the famous Christmas chip we seen on TikTok, obviously a really fab chippy the amount of people standing waiting on their food could hardly get in the door only to be told, it’s a 40 minute wait and no Christmas chips! Absolutely gutted. Tried ringing, phone off hook, nothing on their social media to say Xmas chip sold out. GUTTED! 😭”

“Heard so much about the Christmas chip so decided to give it a go. So disappointing. Ordered 3 Christmas chips, opened them up and 1 had no cocktail sausages. Hardly any turkey to be seen on any of them. Very small portions and very minimal (tasteless) gravy - we had to add our own. Not worth the hype at all unfortunately.”
