  “Absolutely appalling service and incredibly disrespectful staff I honestly cannot believe how badly our family was treated here. We came expecting a decent meal and ended up having one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. Firstly, we were left waiting for a ridiculous amount of time before eventually finding out that you’re actually supposed to order at the bar. Nobody told us this when we arrived- tho when we asked the waitress obnoxiously pointed at the sign that was round the corner, so we were simply left sitting there waiting for service that was never coming. Once we eventually figured this out and ordered, we then waited an hour for our food. When the food finally arrived, three of the six meals were cold, the 2 burgers tasted like cold McDonalds with a stale bun and the scampi appropriate for the children’s menu. The other three meals were steaks, and every single steak was overcooked. We were paying around £130 for six meals, so we expected food that was at least hot and properly cooked. To make matters worse, when the food was brought out, we asked the waitresses for some drinks. The response and attitude we received were unbelievable. The waitress visibly rolled her eyes and acted as though we were an inconvenience simply because the restaurant operates bar service. When I politely explained that we were extremely unhappy with the wait and the quality of the food, instead of listening or attempting to resolve the situation, the waitress was extremely rude and dismissive. She argued with me, told me I was being rude, and essentially made me feel as though we were in the wrong for complaining about being served cold food and overcooked steaks after waiting an hour. Initially, she refused to take anything off the bill. Eventually, after another member of our family went to speak to her at the bar, she agreed to remove one meal and 20% of the bill. Considering the experience, we felt this was the bare minimum. But what happened afterwards was completely unacceptable. The waitress proceeded to stick her middle finger up at us and call us names. I have genuinely never experienced such unprofessional and disrespectful behaviour from restaurant staff. Mistakes with food can happen. Long waits can happen. But the way customers are treated when they raise a genuine complaint says everything about a business. We weren’t asking for anything unreasonable — we simply wanted to express that our food was cold/overcooked and that we were extremely disappointed after spending around £130. Instead, we were met with attitude, hostility, insults and incredibly immature behaviour from a member of staff. Absolutely appalling customer service. We will not be returning, and I would strongly recommend that management seriously looks into the behaviour of the staff involved. The food was bad enough, but the way we were treated afterwards was what really ruined the entire experience.”

  “While the location is adequate, the rest of the experience was thoroughly regrettable and fell well below acceptable standards. The staff’s conduct was deeply unprofessional, marked by rudeness and explicit language. all meals were served cold, yet management was initially unwilling to make any adjustments to the bill.”

  “We stayed at the hotel overnight visiting friends who lives 5 minutes away. The location is amazing & lovely, the staff were friendly & the room was lovely. The pub is fantastic. Overall, a lovely place & great value for money. We look forward to staying here again. Thanks :)”

  “We booked the hotel and a meal after our son graduated. Having driven a long distance and with a full on day in the sun. Upon checking in we were told that no meals would be served (presumably due to the football). They did not offer to try to find somewhere else for us to eat and had not contacted us regarding the cancelled food booking. All they said was a quick sorry. We had to sort ourselves out at the nearby Cross Keys where the service and meal was excellent. The room itself was ok. Reasonable size and clean. However there were no toiletries of any kind and whilst there were tea cups there werent any glasses for water etc. Overall would not recommend due to overall poor service.”

  “Me and my family were planning on going for a nice meal and the atmosphere was good but the food was average and some of us got the wrong orders and some were missing items and the service wasn’t the fastest that other places would be. However we appreciate it was a bank holiday and pub may have been busy throughout the day so would have put pressure on the team.”

  “Stayed here for a night in Motorhome. Lovely hotel and very dog friendly. Varied menu with good options. The food was really nice and the service was good. The bar is great, it got quite busy later and we got involved in the quiz which was good fun. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The owner is very hands on and came over for a chat. Her and her daughter are lovely. Really enjoyed my time here.”
