About Arnside Chip Shop
Arnside Chip Shop is a fish and chips takeaway in Carnforth, at 1 The Promenade, with a view over Morecambe Bay. Cod and haddock are the fish choices, cooked fresh to order, and battered haggis is on the menu too. Portions come in large and small sizes, plus a smaller lite-bite size. Anyone avoiding gluten can ask for the gluten-free batter, and a few vegan items sit on the menu. The café One the Prom serves Carrington's Coffee, snacks and cakes, with indoor seating where food is brought to the table. The shop is walk-in, and a queue and a wait for food are common. Orders can also be placed through an app.

Customer Review Summary
Diners single out the fish above all, with several praising sweet, flaky haddock and cod in a light, crisp batter, and one calling the cod some of the best battered cod they have had in the Lakes. Chips draw more mixed comments. Some find them fluffy inside and crunchy outside, while another reviewer found them soggy and hard to finish. Portions are described as generous, and a lite-bite size is mentioned for smaller appetites. Others tried battered haggis, which one called okay but nothing remarkable, and battered sausage. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, with one waitress described as warm and helpful, and several mention efficient service despite regular queues. Benches, the estuary view and the promenade outside come up often, and one reviewer praises ordering on the app. One diner left unhappy after the man at the counter refused, with a smirk, to top up a water bottle. A fellow customer in the queue suggested the lightly battered fish for takeaway so it stays crisp on arrival.

“We went and sat in here at lunchtime for a bite to eat after an early walk on 18/07/26 , the food ( Cod + Chips & Battered Sausage + Chips ) was freshly cooked taking about 10 - 15 mins, it was all very tasty , but what was most pleasing was the absolutely delightful young woman who took our order and brought the food, she was genuinely friendly , warm, engaging and helpful. Good food can be found in many places, great staff not so much. Thanks.”

“We had a takeaway to eat by the sands. Visited on a Thursday afternoon at 17:00. Ordered straight away and ordered 2 haddock and chips. All cooked fresh, waited 5-10 minutes. All staff friendly. Very good quality food and service. Highly recommend!”

“I live in Kendal and if I ever want to eat fish and chips I will make sure I’ll be going to this place. It’s easy to order on the app so that by the time I arrive I’m not stuck waiting for my food. The view outside of the shop is sensational. I cannot fault the food and the price is very much worth paying.”
