About Greaves Park
On Bowerham Rd in Lancaster, Greaves Park is a pub where roast dinners arrive with huge Yorkshire puds, served as a Sunday roast or as a trio roast for those who want more than one meat. Outside the roasts, the menu includes crispy squid as a starter and a sourdough cheese toastie with fig chutney. Vegan options sit alongside the meat dishes, so mixed groups can order from the same menu. Bookings are taken for special occasions, which suits family celebrations. A Fathers Day menu is also offered.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split sharply on Greaves Park, but the roast dinner is the most frequent draw, with praise for the trio roast dinners and huge Yorkshire puds that arrived piping hot. Close behind are the fish goujons for a child, the starters and desserts, and a Fathers Day menu described as great value. Several describe friendly, attentive staff and a beautifully decorated building that made a special occasion feel special, and one notes that allergy requirements were checked. The negatives are specific and recurring. One diner's Sunday roast arrived stone cold, and the replacement came without the vegetables that were requested. Three diners at one table found their fig chutney cheese toasties served without chutney, with flavourless cheese and rock hard bread, and the waiter offered a 25% discount. Another says the crispy squid starter was not crispy and was sloppily plated. Others describe tables left full of empty glasses, a slow drinks order while staff chatted, and one reviewer reports eyelashes in drinks. One reviewer calls the experience a 50/50, with the ambience and dog friendliness as the draw.

“Booked to celebrate a special occasion. Don’t really know eateries in Lancaster, so took a chance. Was really pleased we’d booked. The food and prices were great. Staff friendly and accommodating. The exterior and interior of the building were gorgeous and it made the occasion feel special. Will go again.”

“Had a poor experience today (Tuesday lunchtime). It was quiet and apparently the menu is new. Three of us opted for the sourdough cheese toastie with fig chutney. All three came without any chutney (as did one on a different table). When we mentioned it, the chutney came out in a little pot, cold, for us to pull open our toasties and add ourselves. The cheese was utterly flavourless and hardly any of it. The bread was rock hard, crusty and an inch thick, so each bite was dry, painful and hard work to chew. The waiter told us they had no control over how the food was made but offered us a 25% discount on the sandwiches. Could have made much better at home without spending a tenner, so won't be coming back. Have also added a photo of the lazy saucing on the chicken and bacon sandwich. The disabled toilet has been painted at some point but clearly they couldn't be bothered to open the baby changing unit to paint, which is therefore covered in blue wall paint. I didn't see a single smile to any customer from any member of staff throughout the place while we were there. Generally just felt a bit bleak.”

“We went here for a bite to eat when visiting family. The venue is beautifully decorated and welcoming. Staff were very attentive and polite. Food was lovely and of the standard expected from this kind of chain restaurant. Overall would highly recommend.”

“So sad about this place it such a stunning venue but the food and service is the worst is have seen anywhere. Our Sunday roast turned up stone cold after minutes of ordering, as if they just had something sitting on the side in the kitchen for hours ready to serve to customers. We complained and they made fresh but the roast came with no Vedge. We asked for Vedge they said ok they will make but they never brought it out. The food was tasteless. I don’t think they have a professional chef in the kitchen at all. The waiters/ staff have to be approached they won’t come to you. On another accusation I came back with my daughter and order only drinks (didn’t want to risk the food again) our 2 Apple justices took a while to arrive and then I had to take them out side myself when we chose to move seats. The drinks had eyelashes in them! It’s so sad that they are not keeping up with the standard in Lancaster city or anywhere else for that matter. It’s such an amazing venue. They will loose so much business if they done fix things. We certainly won’t be going back for a long time. And definitely never for food :(”
